Really enjoye this five part series. I have never read any comics of any of these characters so it was fun to dive in a bit leading up to the show. Not sure if these will play a role, but it was fun nonetheless.

This series as a whole was very solid!

The conclusion was a bit longer than I wanted it to be, but I enjoyed more clarification of what Steve, the shield, and the role of Captain America stand for. Of course, we already sort of established that earlier in the series. While this is a short series, my dream of dreams is that Marvel gives us a longer one when the show comes out but I'd also kinda wish it would be written by Waid.

This doesn't really dig deep into Sam or Bucky. In fact, it's written in such a way that, as someone who HAS read a lot about Bucky and read Sam's recent solo by Barnes, I found that there were no little details of either of their lives or pasts here. It's the kind of book that didn't even seem as though their wikis were consulted for a bit of depth to their characterization, which was odd. It wasn't bad but the only thing you might have found "personal" about them here was Bucky having a cat. That's it.

So, if you're looking for some in depth analysis and insight into the characters, this isn't a book I'd recommend. There's some books in Brubaker's run that would be better suited for that. However, it was enjoyable enough that I was excited every time I saw a new issue come out. Then again, that's partially because Corona ruined us getting the SamBucky solo show on time and I was desperate for more of these two.
