Funny how I've had this book on my shelf for years and never read it.
I honestly forgot if I read the first book or not, according to goodreads I did so I read a summary and it did reminded me of the story.
So I started this book and thought it was quite entertaining. Which makes me wonder why I forgot I read the first book hahahaha
Although, judging by other reviews, the 2nd book is a lot better so maybe that's why.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Main Character: Jules. She is very similar to the previous book. She's driven to protect those around her above all else. I wish we had been able to see more change in her character. Especially wish she would learn she can allow others to make choices the way she wants to be able to freely make choices without manipulating and tricking people to do as she wishes.

Love Interest: Liam. The love interest in revealed, but we don't learn much more about his character. It's even something the novel itself comments on - Liam is unknown to the protagonist, which makes the eventual romance even more disappointing.

Romance: After having essentially no romance in the first novel, the sequel was well set up for a slow-burn between these two characters, who have moved from enemies to partners. But Liam has been in love with Jules since before the book began, and Jules also falls quickly but spends 80% of the book denying it. So overall, it just wasn't satisfying.

First book was so good and I had my hoped up but felt like the author didnt put as much effort into the characters and their relationships as well as character development in this one. Didn't finish it.

"We have to believe that we can change the future, otherwise, whats the point of anything?"

Hey guys, so I finished Evermore (Everless, #2)by Sara Holland. I honestly didn't know what i expected from this sequel. I just knew I wanted to continue the storyline from book one to see how things went down. I can truthfully say, i am pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed this novel. I believe it was better than the first book. TO me, the storyline was richer and more full of life and emotion. It was a better story line, with more stakes, desires, pursuits, just everything was better. I also liked the mystery woven into the storyline. Sure, the first book had a touch of mystery, but this one expands on that mystery. I really like how the mystery was pursued. I also liked the action and the danger aspect in this novel. Real, palpable danger, not just the implied threat of danger, actual, deathly danger. Mmhm, gotta love me some danger. And the drama, don't even get me started on the drama. SO MUCH DRAMA, mostly pertaining to different relationships. Gods i love drama, and how the characters react to it and how it changes and alters the characters and story. The writing was alright, easily scanned, still can comprehend what's happening. There was some dense details in relation to scenes and place settings, and of course, for memory, but those were needed. Most of the details were needed. I especially like all the inner monologue and turmoil in this book. and the travel scenes, i love when travel scenes are short and quick, to the point, not dragged out. The pacing was pretty good, except for the very beginning and the very end. BOth felt rushed, like it was hastily started, then hastily ended. but everything in between flowed well and fit together quite nicely and smoothly. But the end, damn. That was like...so painfully obvious yet not. That is what made it so brilliant and devious. GOds. That ending...Apart from the writing, this book follows Jules and the fallout from the first book and how she intends to deal with all that. In my opinion, i really like the human struggle she goes through in this book. She has a tremendous burden on her shoulder and is dealing with it the best she can. but she is just one girl and she is only human, really, where it counts. I really enjoy her battles and her real doubts and flaws in this book. HEr reactions to things, for the better or the worse. are just so real. Ultimately, she just wants to protect those around her. she doesn't want anyone else to suffer because of her. She doesnt want anymore blood to stain her hands. And due to that, she makes some hard, grow up decisions. I find her very brave and caring to do some of the things she did in this novel. I admire her greatly. THis book is all about her finding herself, her true self, strengths and weaknesses included. One of the most challenging things she goes through, is all the memories of her past lives. Those memories are so intense and so vital, yet they seemt o just be taunting her, teasing her. just out of the reach of being helpful, more harmful. I really like how she deals with them. And with her relationships. gods, okay, so much drama in the relations. First, her relationship with the sorceress. who has appeared to be her enemy. The sorcerers is basically her enemy, the bad guy, in the book. Yet as we know with villains, it is not ever that simple. Jules relation with the sorceress is complex and ancient. ANd it unfurles beautifcially throughout the book. it is peeled away and revealed, layer by layer, painful and deep. And as always, nothing is ever purely black and white, evil, good, hero, villain. Everyone is somewhere ein between. Friends...enemies...love..hate...they are all entwined in a messy, complicated bundle of...a relationship. A relationship, contains all those elements. And it all depends on the one you feed. Or more importantly, where does the line blur between who is a friend, and who is an enemy. OKAy, another relation, LIAM. SO I mainly also read this book hoping it would have more of liam. Gods i love liam. I love, love, love liam. he is bae. he is a role model. Alll the YA men should take lessons from this knight in shining armor. I swear. Liam is amazing. he is...he is...totally dedicated and lovable and adorable and just..so cute and sweet and smart. His love of books revels my own, probably all of ours. All he wants is love and happiness and safety and just..my sweet baby. I just love how he always has a map. I wish he had a map of my heart, because all the roads would lead to him. Okay, that didnt sound as good typed out as it did in my head...So anyway, liam is bae, and no one can tell me otherwise. I also liked the other characters in this book, both new and old. They added a new dynamic and spark to the story. They added more...light and darkness. Okay, i think i prattled on long enough. Remember, this is all my opinion. If you want your own, read the book. Alright, till next time. bye.
