Its a translated book (from Brazilian Portuguese into English) and it took me some time to get used to the sentence structure. But the book challenged my American ideas about the concept of race.

Wanted to like this but struggled super hard with the writing style. Extremely long run-on sentences, hard to tell where dialogue stops and starts, etc.

I want to write a more thoughtful review of this one, but overall I loved the content but found the prose challenging at times. 

Such an interesting translator’s afterword as well on the thorniness of translating language surrounding race!
