Jaicey’s life changed when she was 15. Now she doesn’t have friends, doesn’t want to talk to anyone, doesn’t want to be touched. Until she meets the new kid, Brayden, and she lets him in a little.
This book was a bit confusing for me in the beginning. I know it’s meant to be because we don’t know the whole story but I’m glad I read the reviews first or I probably wouldn’t have finished it. But it got so good.
I always expect a twist to happen right at the very end and it seemed like this one happened sooner. Which was great because then there was backstory. The backstory filled in all the blanks about what happened.
I honestly didn’t expect this book to be as emotional as it was. It was a quick read but still an emotional rollercoaster.
Her dad lives through the entire story and epilogue.

Graphic: Terminal illness, Toxic relationship, Kidnapping, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Eating disorder
Today’s read. It was quick and easy to read. The story was alright. Not my favorite book but it was a good read. On to the next! #themissingpiece #kierstenmodglin #book #thriller #read #bookstagram

3.5 rounded up to 4, short and fast paced. I liked it but not as much as some of Kiersten Modglin's books.

Very quick read. I breezed through it in an hour.
It was fast-paced and I kept wondering what happened to her that was so horrible that she couldn’t remember anything… I did love the ending. It was refreshing since Modglin often gives us twisted almost gasp/cringe endings but this one was surprisingly happy.

Amazing Twist and Awesome Plot
I chose 5 stars because I finished this novel in one sitting. The storyline kept me guessing right up until the last chapters about what had happened to Jaicey. She feels something's off when she wakes up every morning at the same time, her mother seems like a different person, and there are no mirrors in their home. School is confusing because the popular girls are all speaking to her and a good-looking football player is asking her about prom. When she lets a new student get close to her heart, she stops wanting to sleep her life away, and discovers happiness. Until her memory suddenly is awakened causing her world she carefully constructed to fall apart. I had tears as I shared her memory with her. I wasn't expecting the outcome and the writing was fantastic. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers with unseen turns and twist. This is a novel that has quickly climbed to the top of my favorites list.
