This was insane. So many times I started out frustrated only to find out there was a reason why revealed later. Loved it.

This is a fantastic read full of suspense and action. This story pulled me in from the beginning till the end. There's darkness you can sense from the beginning, gripping you with emotions as if you can relate to the characters. This is a read you won't want to miss or put down until the very end.

I really liked the book because the atmosphere was just permanently oppressive/unsettling in a way that I couldn’t/didn’t want to stop the audiobook.
The beginning of the book was a bit too fast for me - the events kind of came thick and fast and I sometimes wondered if I was listening to an abridged version, which wasn’t the case. It just felt like the reader was missing information/timelines. The connection that built up between Jaicey and Brayden just happened way too quickly for me and I absolutely didn’t get it on an emotional level either. The summary does say that Brayden challenges her, (and also wants her to remember) but it all happened in a way that didn’t make sense to me. At least not when you consider how they relate to each other and how quickly their friendship develops.
But if you look past these points, the book is incredibly atmospheric (thanks to Tara Sands!) and also leaves the reader just as perplexed as Jaicey. I loved all the little hints about her past and also how her family/friends try to deal with her memory loss. You just felt the pain but also the love.
Yeah, I probably liked the middle part of the book (except for Brayden’s „challenges“) the best.
The explanation of what happened and what was behind Jaicey’s amnesia was also good, but for me, it was a bit far-fetched (just my personal opinion) as to what events led up to it.
Also the behavior of Jaicey and her „ex"boyfriend after Jaicey regained her memories was anything but sensitive and much too rushed for me.
The audiobook. Oh. My. God.
Tara Sands is probably my favorite female narrator by far now! She did an incredible job; I had goosebumps so many times. Her pacing was perfect, she did an amazing job voicing the characters and put so much emotion into the dialogue that it took my breath away.
You could almost grasp the fear and sadness and joy and whatever else there was. It was stunning and for me, it just made the story more real and terrifying - made my toenails curl.
I would love to hear more audiobooks from Tara Sands in the future!
All in all, a good book, which in retrospect has some weaknesses. However, while I was listening to the audiobook, these were easily forgotten because it was simply thrilling.

Mir hat das Buch echt gut gefallen, da die Atmosphäre einfach permanent auf eine Art beklemmend / verunsichernd, dass ich das Hörbuch gar nicht stoppen konnte / wollte.
Der Anfang des Buches ging mir ein wenig zu schnell – die Ereignisse haben sich irgendwie überschlagen und ich habe mich manchmal gefragt, ob ich eine gekürzte Version höre, was aber nicht der Fall war. Es hat sich einfach so angefühlt, als würden dem Leser Informationen / Zeitstränge fehlen. Die Verbindung, die sich zwischen Jaicey und Brayden aufgebaut hat, ging mir einfach viel zu schnell und ich habe es auch auf emotionaler Ebene absolut nicht verstanden. Der Klappentext sagt zwar, dass Brayden sie herausfordert, (und auch will, dass sie sich wieder erinnert) aber das alles ist auf eine Art und Weise passiert, die für mich nicht logisch ist. Jedenfalls nicht dann, wenn man bedenkt, wie die beiden zueinanderstehen und wie schnell sich ihre Freundschaft entwickelt.
Wenn man aber über diese Punkte hinweg sieht, ist das Buch unglaublich atmosphärisch (danke an Tara Sands!) und lässt auch den Leser genauso ratlos zurück, wie Jaicey. Mir haben diese ganzen kleinen Hints auf ihre Vergangenheit gefallen und auch wie ihre Familie / ihre Freunde versuchen, mit ihrem Gedächtnisverlust umzugehen. Man hat einfach den Schmerz, aber auch die Liebe gespürt.
Ja, wahrscheinlich hat mit der Mittelteil des Buches (bis auf Braydens „Challenges“) am besten gefallen.
Die Auflösung des Geschehens und was hinter Jaiceys Gedächtnisverlust steckte, fand ich auch gut, nur war es für mich dann doch ein wenig weit „hergeholt“, (nur meine persönliche Meinung) welche Ereignisse das alles nach sich gezogen hat.
Auch das Verhalten von Jaicey und ihrem „Ex“freund, nachdem Jaicey ihre Erinnerungen wiedererlangt hat, war für mich alles andere als sensibel und viel zu überstürzt.

Tara Sands ist jetzt wohl mit Abstand meine Lieblingssprecherin! Sie hat einen unglaublich tollen Job gemacht; ich hatte so oft Gänsehaut. Ihr Pacing war perfekt, sie hat die Charaktere unglaublich toll vertont und hat so viele Emotionen in die Dialoge gesetzt, dass mir der Atem gestockt ist.
Man hat die Angst und Trauer und Freude und was auch immer es noch gab beinahe greifen können. Es war umwerfend und für mich wurde die Geschichte damit einfach realer und erschreckender – die Fußnägel haben sich mir aufgerollt, eh.
Ich würde in Zukunft unglaublich gern mehr von Tara Sands hören!
Alles in allem ein gutes Buch, welches im Nachhinein einige Schwächen hat. Während ich das Hörbuch gehört habe, sind diese aber gern mal in den Hintergrund gerückt, da es einfach spannend war.

Probably, this just wasn't for me. 99% YA romance 1% thriller. It was painful to read it all the way to the very end.

Review: I went into this book completely blind. When I first started it, I was very confused as there were people that were supposed to be dead, and then they were alive in future chapters which were later in life than when I thought they died. Then when the ending came, I understood what was going on. I knew there was something off about the boy, but did not guess the ending. Again, Kiersten had an amazing message at the end of the book. This book definitely had me going back and forth with my emotions and had a ball in my throat at the end and was trying to keep the tears at bay. Another thriller recommendation!
