This haunting, haunting story of parricide. The single greatest most glorious novel ever written. Dostoyevsky and his proposed three modes of living. Mitya the sensualist, Ivan the rationalist, and Alyosha the spiritualist. Such a shame we will never get the sequel.

As much as I enjoyed reading this, I have to admit that I pretty much found it to be just a preachy, melodramatic soap opera. Now, don't get me wrong; there were some great passages and a few that made me think, but way too much of the novel was a bit of a slog or scenes filled with characters being overly dramatic baffoons.

wow, what a fulfilling read. this book was unlike anything i’ve read before, messy and chaotic prose, characters i loved and ones i despised, and heavily complex discussions about faith and individual’s places on this earth.

ultimately this book is existentialisms’s final boss
