This book was amazing.
a guidebook on the many aspects of the human psyche.
a guidebook on an excellent way to live life, and the inevitable contradictions we experience if we are not raised to live a certain way.
a case for faith, a case for godlessness burdening humanity.
a case of us lying to ourselves, and the unjustness of exposing a slice of our story to others as they may judge and even if they know enough about your story, will judge nonetheless.
this book has caused me to think. a lot. and I took away mostly aloysha and zossimas faith in this book, even if I have acted like mitya my entire life. it reminds me constantly of the contradictions I live , and what I aspire to.
I am not writing enough about this book, nor can I, so I highly recommend you read it. the only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the plot became a slog and made it more difficult to find the gold nuggets that appeared everywhere.
actually it seems like it was just a bunch of gold nuggets in a pile of bad plot. but the philosophy contained within is so powerful and thought provoking that it only removed one star for me. ideally it would be half but oh well. read this friggin book so I can kiss you.
