There was a lot to love about this charming book told from the perspectives of 3 childhood friends all together again in their hometown of Sea Point, NJ for the summer. I felt the story started off with a bang, dropping us into Kate’s narrative, with her “perfect” life in Manhattan suddenly imploding. It gave me such a strong first few scenes of legally blonde vibes. However underneath the classic rom-com was a really touching story about friendships changing, loss, grief, and how the places we loved as children change. Most of all I loved the discussion around how the perfection we expect of ourselves is usually less important to everyone else and that by letting go, there’s a chance of finding something unexpected, but better.
.
Definitely would recommend finding a nice body of water to sit next to in the sun and enjoying this story!

Fatphobia comes up randomly and the only characters who get in depth descriptions have blue or green eyes. There is a token minority character.
Moderate: Fatphobia
