I asked my 5-year-old how much she liked this book when we finished reading it, and her answer was "A million stars!" This was a fun Christmas book that was really three shorter stories closer in length to others in the series that were all connected.

I enjoyed a lot of this but also it didn't feel as distinct from Cheryl the Christmas Tree Fairy as it could have been

I think this is one of my favourite Rainbow Magic books so far!

I know that there are different authors for every book, but I didn't realize that applied to the illustrations as well. The art in this book looks very different compared to the art in all the other books I've read. Regardless, I think that Emma's design is the cutest, just look at her rain boots!

Speaking of Emma, I truly love everything about her. I think it was a really cool idea to have her items be created every year for Easter rather than just existing - Emma paints three Easter eggs with different designs that her pet chicken has to lay and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this idea. Also, not only do the girls have to find the items, but they also have to find the Easter Bunny, which is different and interesting and probably exciting for the kids reading these books because they're just used to these girls always having three items to find. Also, I didn't expect Emma to be able to communicate with animals through songs, but the Cinderella of it all was something I was super into, more power to her.

One other thing that I appreciated about this book was that they added something new, at least as far as I know, to the fairy lore by saying that fairies can actually sense magic, because it makes sense. 'Goblin Gossamer' was also new to me and I like that they're doing something new with goblins because of course they have pet spiders weaving GREEN webs to catch fairies.

I also think that this book actually feels like an Easter/Spring book because you have all these flowers and colours being mentioned throughout the book, so it had that vibe that I think it needed to have.

The goblins in their lamb costumes was the highlight of the book, nothing will ever top this.

This book definitely made me feel a lot better after having just read Paige the Christmas Play Fairy!

Pros:
-I really like that instead of Natalie coming to the girls, the girls decided to go to Fairyland. I just thought it was nice to switch it up between books. I also loved that not the entire book took place in the human world, it was really fun to see them travel to Fairyland, specifically Jack Frost's castle.
-There we so many fairy cameos!!! I was so psyched to see Crystal the Snow Fairy, it's actually embarrassing. It was nice to see all the Christmas Fairies together, especially Holly since she was the first Special Edition fairy (They even made references to her book!). It made the book feel like the last Christmas/Winter themed book that we would get for a very long time (I mean, we got one 10 books later) and I know for a fact that if I had read this book when it first came out I would've been really sad.
-Was I just never paying attention, or is this the first time that we got to see one of the fairies actually have a box for her 3 items? Regardless, it was a nice touch, especially the fact that it plays Jingle Bells when you open it, that is so cute!
-I like that the stakes were high with this one because they literally had a day to find these items.
-It was fun to switch it up and have the girls bargain with the goblins rather than just steal the items from right under their noses.
-I love how the dynamic between Jack Frost and the goblins bounces between scared henchmen and employees done with their boss's nonsense. The goblins in this book did not hesitate to give up the magical items! The best part for me was the last section of the book in the Ice Castle because you had these goblins complaining about Jack Frost making them work in the cold and then the bogmallows - it was so funny!
-Even at 22, I was confused as to why Natalie would be scared of going into the Ice Castle when the girls clearly weren't, but then I was reminded that not every fairy has seen the inside of this hell castle, unlike Rachel and Kirsty who pop in every other week (They said bye to Jack Frost as they left!). I just know for a fact that if I had read this book for the first time as a kid, I would think that these girls are so cool for being braver than someone with powers. I love these books, I hope that this series never comes to an end.

Cons: I have no complaints, this was a really fun book!

Even if I were still 7 and I read this book after Destiny the Rock Star Fairy, I would've been so disappointed. This book fell so flat in comparison that it took me forever to get through it, which is so strange because I think that this book was WAY too fast-paced.

Pros:
-Rachel's pigtails and the cute little poncho she wore in the first chapter.
-The goblins in their little togas pretending to be statues was actually pretty funny.
-The girls' faces as they watch one of the goblins stuff the ballet slipper in his mouth while he climbs up a ladder was also very funny, especially Rachel's face when the goblin is falling and she just has her arms out to catch the slipper.
-Paige is so funny. Like, 'yeah I'll help this loser because fairies are nice or whatever, but instead of whipping up something soft for the goblin to land on, I'll drop him in a can of orange paint'.
-The ballet costumes are really cute and I like that the style is almost like a more casual version of Paige's outfit.
-Kirsty's side-pony was so cute, why didn't we let her keep her hair like that, hm?
-I love how everyone's costumes are pretty normal, and then you get to the step-sisters and it's like, over-the-top wigs, make-up caked on, and the little gigot sleeves. What time period is the play?
-A callback to India the Moonstone Fairy aka not a Christmas/Holiday fairy but she still gets mentioned and I love that (The Jewel Fairies was the first series I read and Scarlett the Garnet Fairy was the very first Rainbow Magic book I read and owned).
-JACK FROST IS THE EVIL STEP-SISTER, I CAN'T!!!
-I lost it at Kirsty telling the audience to warn Cinderella about the 'step-sister', this is exactly like when Dora always said "Swiper no swiping!" I'm actually upset that this made me laugh.
-It was very sweet that the King and Queen got Kirsty's parents to come to the show.

Cons:
-The items' correlation with what they're meant to do is a little iffy. The horseshoe making sure all the technical aspects happen accordingly actually makes the most sense, no complaints. The ballet shoe making the costumes fit properly is a reach, but I'll take it. But Cinderella's glass slipper is the item that we have chosen to help people remember their lines? REALLY?! You could've picked any show with shoelaces and I would've taken it. Also, why would their Christmas play be CINDERELLA?! I know it's overdone, but if I'm reading a book about Christmas plays, then I expect the Nutcracker.
-There are zero stakes, this book is just the goblins tripping and falling and the girls getting the items very easily. Like, there was some back and forth in previous books which is what makes these books FUN. They got rid of the fun in this one.
-The fact that no one was freaked at seeing goblins on stage was wild, like, the girl playing Cinderella was face to face with Jack Frost and she had no reaction.
