Funny, moving, exciting. The end made me cry. A very good read!

I really enjoyed this book. It was rather cheesy, and a bit predictable, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I was drawn in by Ahern's style of writing, and Lucy was a great character. I actually laughed out loud at this book, which hardly ever happens, but this book was that funny to me. I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a fun, casual read.

This was a fun and enjoyable read. Yes, it was filled with cliches and you didn't even need to guess what was going to happen, but it worked despite that. Life as a person was a cool idea and the way Lucy's moods and actions reflected on him worked well. Lucy was the kind of character you'd expect to find in a book like this, but I really liked the fact that she was flawed, very much so, and didn't even try to pretend to be perfect. There were nice supporting characters (a book about Melanie's life would be such a great read!) and in general this worked as a good escapism from bleak everyday stress. I also liked the subtle nods to other literary works, it was fun spotting those.

The style of writing reminded me of a show like Wonderfalls or Dead Like Me. Clever, sarcastic, a little bit fantastic but it seemed that everyone lived in a world where this was the norm. I enjoyed life as a character and plot device. A fun read.

It looks like my experience with Cecelia Ahern's books continues to be mediocre. I have yet to fall in love with her work which leaves me a little lost on where to go from here. Do I continue reading her books, or just give up?

The Time of My Life was essentially just like every other Ahern book I've read - good enough, something I'm not hating but also something that I could easily just stop reading and never have any desire to pick up again. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't awesome either. It just was.

One thing that I did really enjoy about this book was how quirky the main character, Lucy was. She reminded me a lot of Sophie Kinsella's protagonists and I love just everything Kinsella has written. When I first started reading The Time of My Life one of my immediate thoughts was that Lucy was unlike any character I have come across in Ahern's writing, and I thought 'could this be the Cecelia Ahern book that I finally connect with?!' It was so refreshing to come across a main character of hers that actually seemed to have a personality and wasn't just your conventional chick-lit lead.

Although Lucy was quirky and fun she was also confusing as hell sometimes. Her narration takes a little getting used to, but I'll be honest and admit that a couple times throughout the novel I had no idea what she was going on about, and I didn't care enough to try and pick her thoughts apart. I feel like Ahern got too caught up in trying to make Lucy this fun and crazy character, and kind of let herself go in those parts of the novel. Every time I felt myself struggling to understand what was going on I'd think 'ok, this isn't fun. Does anyone understand this?! JUST TELL ME WHAT'S HAPPENING IN TEN WORDS OR LESS, OH MY WORD!!!' Eventually I just decided to read the words and move on, and I read the book just fine without understanding those little bits and pieces.

All in all, this is an ok book. Bordering on good, so it gets three stars from me. The idea is a really interesting one that was pulled of fairly well, but unfortunately there's just nothing really spectacularly interesting that happens in this novel. Oh, and can I just say that Lucy's big reveal at the end is so incredibly anti-climactic?! If I was one of her friends I'd probably be like 'wow ok. But who cares?' Maybe it's because I wasn't emotionally invested in the book but the ending kind of fell flat for me, as did most of the book.

excellent

I've already mentioned, that I love Cecelia Ahern. Some books more than others and "The time of my life" is one of them. It's a well written dynamic novel, with the tiny bit of mystery that just motivates you to keep reading.

Lucy is a as liar and miserable and I hated this book when I first picked it up because Lucy literally makes all the wrong decisions but look at me know giving it four stars
