Out On A Limb
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“Our souls were tied a long time ago, I think. We’re just finally admitting it to each other.”

“You can’t change anything by hiding it. You’ll just look back on memories and realise you tried to erase yourself. And how sad that would be.”

“And I tell myself, over and over and over again, that I can do this. Until, eventually, I feel like it’s at least a little true.”

This book had a completely different vibe than I was expecting, but I was here for it! It gave me all the cozy and wholesome vibes, but don't let that fool you. There was a bit of spice too 😉.

As I generally go into a book blind or based on the vibes of the cover, I did not expect this to have the pregnancy trope. However, can I say, it completely worked for this book. I really appreciated the disability representation within the book as well. Hannah Bonam-Young took such a unique approach with this plot and these characters, and I feel like the journey these characters took was literally the sweetest.

Bo, Robbie, Robert, a man with three names (IYKYK 🤣) was literally friend/boyfriend goals. He was the king of devoted to and supportive of Win during this entire book. I mean what did he do wrong at any point? Literally NOTHING! My heart was continuously swooning over Bo.

Win was, of course, so strong and independent, and she had to be with what she went through in her life. However, I loved that we got to see her evolution of trusting others with her heart, especially Bo.

These two together were magic. Instant chemistry. And, I absolutely loved their banter, their nerdiness, and their sense of humor. I loved that the purpose of the book was not the pregnancy but the journey.

⚠️Warning⚠️
Language, low spice, adult content, parental abandonment (off page), depression/suicide (off page), cancer (past, not reoccurring)

The FML and MML were both super cute and though it was a very slow burn, I was pretty invested the entire time. The humor was mostly them laughing about their hand/leg which were clever if nothing else, the book also touches pretty serious topics without too much overkill - except maybe the preachy part of pro-choice vs pro-life even as a pro-lifer.

I don't usually love one night/pregnancy trope but I did enjoy the set up of this one. That said, it was super cute and inclusive, but there were some parts I kinda zoned out at.
