This ENTIRE review might be a spoiler, I don't know. I read the entire series because I am a person who can't leave a series unread once started no matter what I feel about it - I always want to give the author the opportunity to finish (give them the benefit of chance).

The epitome of a red flag relationship. Hint: You cannot change another person, you will never be able to fix their trauma. And.....just for reference they may think you are the calm to their storm but you will also be caught in the middle of their storm, blamed for the waves, and dragged under. Not sure how I really feel about this book. Girls (and boys) some people are broken and they just feel comfortable in their brokenness, you may make them feel better (like a drug) but in the long run they will destroy you. I am a trauma survivor, I have triggers that set me off, I am a survivor because despite my trauma and the triggers I function in a normal way. I faced my demons and I fight. This is the epitome, the absolute example of a broken person who needs serious help. The mother had it right when she warned that he needed to forgive or else he would ruin himself and those around him. Yes, the broken can love others but that love can also be destructive when it is paired with deep rooted trauma that is undealt with. Read this book and understand this is NOT what you want!

Intensely emotional. Sucks the reader into a dysfunctional and many times abusive cycle. It may overly romanticize an abusive relationship cycle. Great physical chemistry is NOT, and I repeat, NOT a good enough reason to stay in a relationship!!!

And....to add....I watched the Netflix movies - second one is so graphic in the scenes that one can't help but think that the only thing this relationship is based on is the bedroom. Ughhh......

after is always going to have a special place in my heart because it was the first book series to get me into reading. i know. that sounds sucky but i respect that even though the books aren’t the best ever written.

that being said...these books are...amusing. lemme explain.

we have the wOnDeRfUl tessa young—i hate everything about this girl. she's so judgmental, a hypocrite, shrill (lmfao) like why you always shouting shush for a second, entitled, and don't even get me started on the slut-shaming she does. she talks about molly being a slut where her ass cheated on her boyfriend with a dude she barely knew.

hardin...hardin, hardin, hardin—my guy is weird. the things he says and the way he says them sound so..unrealistic idk how to describe it. maybe it's the way the books are written but i don't find it attractive like there isn't enough depth to his appearance/personality/aura idk for me to find him hot idk.

tessa and hardin's relationship is toxic with all capitals. they fight like every other page and then they hump like bunnies like nothing happened. also, in the first book, they didn't have enough substance together to make it seem believable that they were in love—it almost felt like instalove idk. also also, too repetitive, like they were having the same fights and dialogues over and over again.

in conclusion: there are better books.

I have watched the movies. However the book was pretty good.

The way this book took me through my emotions like a college age girl was everything. The back and forth and the cliffhanger… will be starting book 2 at 1am on an early morning… 🍺
