I was a fan of the Buffy TV show, and the spin-off series Angel. This comic series picks up right where they both left off, and continues the storylines that weren't finished when they were cancelled. The creator and primary writer of the series, Joss Whedon, was heavily involved in the writing and managing of this comic series, and it really shows. The characters talk like the characters are supposed to, and the whole thing maintains the "spirit" of the original. It's really nice to see the characters again, and I'm looking forward to reading more.

While no one would consider this "great literature" (whatever that means), this is an enjoyable continuation of a series I enjoyed, and I think any fan of the TV show would enjoy this collection.

Intriguing beginning to a bigger story. The character art is a bit hit-or-miss.

Buffy was one of my favorite shows and who isn't bummed when their favorite show leaves the air. Especially given the fact that it was on for seven seasons. You get sort of attached. I've known Joss has been a part of the eight and ninth seasons for a while but I never got around to checking it out until now. I'm glad I did. The comics are a great continuation of the show. I can actually hear the words as if the actor was delivering them. Some of the illustrations are spot on and others are sketchy.. but overall, I think the first book is really well done. I'll be buying books 2-4.

The artwork it what clicked this over into 5 star territory. The actual size of the physical book brings out the illustration work (though does also mean impossible to read in bed. Strictly sitting up on chair/couch this edition). In the characters development/shown/story enjoying seeing the "what happened after the cameras fade away from show". Personal favourites would be Faith and Giles.

I just rewatched all of Buffy and Angel before starting this. It definitely eases the pain of the TV shows being over again.. and means all the little references are still fresh in my mind.

I LOVED this comic.. it definitely keeps the spirit of the TV show alive while taking advantage of the new medium to up the action and the monster design. It carries on from where Season 7 ended with thousands of activated Slayers in the world and Buffy & Co trying to track them down and train them. The art is good although the artists vary in their ability to get good likenesses of some of the characters.

I ate this up in three days (staying up too late reading it). Can't wait for the next volume!

Enjoyed it, but probably won't pick up the next one...I don't think me and comics will become a thing.
