I really like Carl Hiassen's style. I've enjoyed several of his books.

This book, geared for younger readers, is just terrific. There's mystery, there's humor, there's middle school angst, there's friendship. I will definitely add this to my list of books to buy for boys.

I watched this movie at a friends house then found out that she had the book. Immeaditaly I asked if I could borrow it, she didn't know that she had it. The movie follows the book very well for the beginning but the end is a bit different. I liked it

Eighth-grader Roy Eberhardt thinks his new town in Florida isn't as interesting as Montana. He is intrigued when he finds out about vandalism on the construction site of a new pancake house-- a site that is already occupied by small burrowing owls. The humor and fast-pace overcome the stereotypical stock characters (bully, evil corporate guy), and give a lesson about conservation. Made into a movie, but as in most cases, the book was better than the movie.

i loved this book growing up. it was a joy to reread it after having lived in the town that inspired coconut cove, and was fortunate to see these feathered friends each day. i have fond memories of walking reba at night and the burrowing owls would swoop down by her, reba HATED the owls, but they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

You are never too old to read this book.
Hoot fostered a deep love and appreciation for our environment in me at such a young age. Hiaasen created a super impactful coming-of-age story. While this books addresses some more serious topics around youth's conscience and awareness of environmental matters, it does so in a funny and lighthearted manner.

I love this book! I read it with my fifth grade class years ago, but I had always remembered it fondly. After reading through it again now I can again say it is such a quirky, funny, yet still important book. It is timely in its theme of environmentalism and standing up for what's right. It's incredible to me that Hoot is Carl Hiaasen's first book for kids, because he is so adept with the narrative. After we'd read Hoot with my class, I had read his other books Flush, Scat, and Chomp. I love the way he puts together oddball characters, the environment, and mysteries, too. This book, as well as Carl Hiaasen's others, remain vibrant memories from my childhood, and will live on long into the future.

i read diffrent type of books but i think that this book was really good . i ike the way he ended it , in a way where if he wanted to he could make another one but left it in a way where you could just imagine after that. i find it funny and entertaning.

Great book. Loved the plot, the charactures, everything! Awesome read. I never saw the movie though...
