This is a children's book and a five star for this age group. I enjoyed it at the same level as "Holes".

My review - I thought the book was perfectly fine. The first half of the book I really enjoyed but felt it slowed down toward the end. I liked the audiobook performance.

Carpool review - They liked it and held there attention most days but probably at least two or three days the group just chatted over the story.

These owls are disgustingly cute. They really could not be any cuter.

I still think it’s good after all these years. Brings fond memories.

Great book, suspenseful, HILARIOUS read.

Carl Hiaasen writes a rollicking, zany book for teens with every bit as captivating characters as his other novels, all while keeping it squarely aimed at his younger audience. But Hoot is just as engaging for his adult readers and shouldn't be missed, the pages practically turn themselves.

Cute. The new boy makes friends with a brother and sister who have a terrible home life. There is the obligatory bully who messes things up, but inadvertently helps in the end. Great for those who need to see some justice! The trio discovers a protected species of owl nesting in the proposed site of a pancake house. The story is their effort to save the owls. Some of the adults were written as absolute dimwits and I suppose that's fair. It was nice to see smart, helpful parents and teachers! Good story for showing that kids can make a difference.

This was an excellent book that lived up to its intriguing title. I get a bit tired of books whose titles have very little to do with their subject matter. However [b: Hoot|13083|Hoot|Carl Hiaasen|http://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388350164s/13083.jpg|817164] is, as promised, a book about owls. It's a very lucidly written and absorbing story, entertaining for both young adults and their mature counterparts.
