This book was absolutely amazing!!! I suppose you all remember the wheelchair guy with the friendliest eyes Pet has ever seen, who actually caused her to blush? This book is from his point of view and they talk to each other! Need I say any more?

I really liked this little look at Pet and her fae from a different perspective. Can't wait to read book 4. I'm hooked on this series!

After reading all The City Between books, I was excited to get another peek into that world. Pet is up to her same old tricks. It was amusing seeing her from a completely different perspective of this new character introduction. Zul is a half-human/merman interacting with the world by "hacking" magic. It was also an interesting way to write a person with disabilities in this urban fantasy world. This little novella didn't let me down.

Hope we get to see a bit more of Marazul in upcoming books- I'm enjoying all of Pet's new friends and side characters, and wouldn't mind seeing this merman in that rotation!

SpoilerBut ill be honest in that I don't really see him as "crush" potential at the moment anymore. Some of his POV made me think he liked and admired her-- but still in the end still kind of saw her as human if you know what I mean??

Like saying her "readiness was pleasing" when she did something he asked, and that he wish he could adopt her if she wants already owned...that kinda thing. He might think she is interesting, but ultimately human yah know? So he wasn't quite into her as I think I was hoping he would be.

Well...I was never really team Merman with JinYoung and Zero in the picture- but you know what I mean. Plus he said he thought she was ugly by human and Behindkind standards...so. Meh.

Still want him to join the team as a magic/tech specialist though.

Awww

This is super cute and adorable and I enjoyed it very much. I do find myself wondering wherein the series lineup it goes, but it’s still enjoyable without knowing.

This was a cute little short story that I thought could have been read before book 6 without any dilution or timeline issues at all.

I hope we get to see that mer again, he's a good character.
