3.6 AVERAGE

Great book, but I will admit it was not nearly as captivating as the other books in this series. I also wasn't very fond of the last couple of chapters or so, but overall a decent book. Definitely kept me on my toes!

Loved this series, I loved the ending. It was suspenseful and I loved the choices that were made!

Why is the first book so good and then the last 2 just go downhill.

Cia is now on a mission from the president, but does she have what it takes to succeed? Great ending to the trilogy! Love Cia's strength of character and the tests she creates to build her team that she can trust.

"And yet, part of me wonders if we can ever truly learn from what we have done if we continue to suppress or erase the past."

3 out of 5 stars

An OK ending to an OK series in my opinion. This book had all the components of a YA dystopian third book. There was a lot of action and some deaths. This trilogy wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. That sounds mean, but I heard a lot of mixed reviews and a lot of people said that it was a cheap knockoff of the Hunger Games and Divergent. I did see a little bit of that in the first book, but it had its own story towards the end.

The plot was fine, but it just felt like something was missing. It suddenly went from chapters and chapters of strategy to the big climax and then everything was alright. There was a lot of intrigue brought up at the end that was never really resolved. I was still confused why the president had really no power to enact any sort of changes and also why she gave a lot of secret information to a college student. The plot twists were good, but some of them were a little confusing and out of nowhere.

One of the saving graces for me was the end. Not because it was particularly exciting. Because SHE LEFT HER TOWN WITHOUT THE BOY. Can I get an amen? For once the YA girl does not devote her entire life to her first love. That was basically why it got three stars. Because Cia can live without Tomas.

The trilogy was decent--kept me interested enough to finish all 3 but very Hunger Games/ Divergent. If you liked those and don't care about the overlap (I generally don't) then these are worth the read.

Of the three books, this was my least favorite. I did not care for the ending of the book and felt as though it did not match the character development seen throughout the other books. Still a decent book, but wish the ending wasn’t so disappointing.
