The dinosaurs are delightful, the action is fast-paced and exciting, and there is some good food for thought about the nature of science, the purpose of discovery, and the consequences of our own curiosity. It is, however, a pretentious novel. Ian Malcolm is insufferable in his self-righteousness, and he feels like a mouthpiece for Crichton's own views. I could have done with 80% less of his ranting and dedicated that page time to more dinos.

Way different than the movie but in a great way. I love Dr. Grant much more in this version and a part of me wishes the movie would’ve been more loyal to the book. However, the movie is still great. It was such an easy read and despite its length, once I actually locked in I managed to breeze through it. It’s definitely an easy read. It’s well written and easy to follow, doesn’t feel like 400 pages at all.

Fun and quick read. Scary without feeling gratuitous.

I loved Jurassic Park. I grew up watching the movie on my parents VHS player and have fond memories of it, but I really enjoyed the book a lot more. It has better commentary on chaos theory, it has some genuinely terrifying and exciting scenes. It also had some nice themes of ethics in science and so much more that isn’t in the movies.
