i would’ve enjoyed it more if i hadn’t read the prequels already, it’s really frustrating knowing much more than the main character when the pov is first person

A cute, charming little book, but not quite as good as the later ones in the series. The ending feels a little rushed, and the magical system isn't really explained well.

Cute, though it felt a bit chaotic at times. I enjoyed most of this book. I could have done without the hero-knight and the princess Isabelle from chapter 9. They added nothing to the story except a few more pages to read. Well, I guess they led to the introduction the little dragon, but that could have been done another way without them. Also, I wish Cimorene and Mendanbar could have been included more somehow, but I still liked Daystar and Shiara well enough. They're an entertaining duo.

All in all, this charming series has become one of my favorites.

I honestly don't care whether these books are objectively good or bad because I enjoy them too much to worry about it & I love the idea that the strongest weapon in Daystar's arsenal is that his mother raised him to be polite.

An oddly completing book. It is hard to believe it was written first and the other three books were prequels. But it explains how everything ties together so well. It definitely had its points where it dragged a bit. And I don't know that it would worked as well as the first book read. A lot too obvious though as the 4th book but still good. 3.5 of 5.
