I wanted to like this book so bad. I kept seeing it on tiktok and I loved that it had an unapologetic fat woman as the heroine but it just wasn’t it. Within the first few chapters I could tell that this book wasn’t going to be great. The plot is all over the place, the characters don’t feel fleshed out and act randomly for no reason, and I found a few spelling/grammatical errors. To me this read like a fanfic where we’re supposed to already know about the characters rather than the tell (not show) info dump that we get for the first third of the book. I still did finish the book, more because I can’t not with books, and there were a few cute moments but mainly I found myself getting frustrated with the plot and characters. Especially when it came to
the stalking plot as it had the dad making sexual comments and the assistant didn’t act like she was malicious until Liam entered the picture. That whole plot felt like it had absolutely no resolution.
The author also advertised it on TikTok as an unapologetic fat heroine when Birdie spent majority of the book feeling self conscious about her weight with Liam, even if she was good in public/with the press
