This is a cute story with a lot of body positive messages. That said, it is mentioned at least once every few pages so it gets old. The main character is Birdie, a plus sized rockstar and the male lead is Liam a strong, built, super hot guy who happens to be Birdie’s first love and former bff… the man who broke her heart. Needless to say, their mutual friends arrange for Liam to be the bodyguard Birdie needs and they finally succumb to their feelings.
The concept and story were different but the way Birdie is always going on about being big and proud but yet secretly doubting herself is overdone. It’s 100% believable as I can relate, but then don’t bill this as a body positive novel when the character clearly has lots of struggles with it. It’s too much. The “stalker” mystery was wrapped up too nicely, and Liam left Birdie alone twice, both times not ending well… some bodyguard.. who doesn’t help vet the additional security hired when they suspect Birdie’s assistant? Yet no one bats an eye at this. What a joke. Honestly the cuter romance was between Wren and Ben, the two mutual friends who bring Birdie and Liam back together twice.
Overall, a quick read and cute romance that had a lot of potential and kinda falls flat.
