I saw the cover and the title of the book and I really thought I wouldn’t like it as much because of how the cover presented itself to me and I thought it would be just another forest and or wolf them book that seems to be popular now. But you know the saying you can’t judge a book by its cover and I really did It turned out to be a good book and I wasn’t expected to like the book as much as I did given the situation it was a hyped book on bookstagram and I don’t read that many hype books due to a lot of people hyping it and the book losing its “IT” factor for me to read it because it was being hyped a lot. BUTTT I will be picking up the second book

Alors tout le début était trèsssssssssss long. Mais très long pour pas grand chose. A partir des 50/60% le livre est devenue vraiment intéressant et prenant. Les plots twist, les retournement de situation, les secrets, tout à commencé à apparaître et à être beaucoup plus clair. J'arrivais pas à comprendre où allait le livre. Finalement c'est pas si mal malgré le début compliqué mais il faut se mettre dedans. C'est dommage l'histoire a vraiment du potentiel.

Fable was such a quick read and loved every moment of it, and that ending, I can’t wait for the next book to come out. In this book we follow Fable as she journeys to find her father and take her rightful place at his side after he abandoned her at Jeval, a dangerous island where any wrong move could get you killed. There isn’t really much happening in the book, they just go from one place to another but that didn’t bother me.
I think the thing I enjoyed the most was the writing style; it was very beautiful. Another thing I loved was how fast paced and action packed the book was, we were jumping from one action scene to another. The world building was very beautiful and I loved the sea setting and the pirate-y vibes we were getting (we need more pirate books). I loved how the romance was a subplot and didn’t over take the entire story.
The Merigold crew’s dynamic was interesting, I was expecting it to be more found family but that was not the case, and although they did care for each other, there was still some kind of reserve when interacting with each other. Another thing that I did not expect but liked nonetheless is how dark the book is and I guess that explains why the crew aren’t that close.
The thing that I felt could have been done better was the characters, most of them felt a bit underdeveloped; and while I did enjoy them whilst reading the book, I didn’t feel any connection towards them. I think that Fable was the only character that I really liked and cared for and I hope that the rest of the character gets more developed in the next book.
I would definitely recommend this book if you want a quick and enjoyable read with a dark twist, pirate-y vibes and amazing writing.

Fable's mom died four years ago. That's also when her father abandoned her on an island full of thieves. He told her that if she could find her way back to him, then he would give her what belongs to her. She almost has enough stashed to get back to her father, but on an island of thieves nothing is safe for long.
I was really surprised by how much I loved this book. I usually go for books with a lot of magic. This isn't magical, but it is fantastic. I loved the characters and I loved the story. And with this ending, I can't wait for the next one!
