This was surprisingly a good read. Full of adventure. Wasn't what expected but in a positive way. Looking forward to the next in series.

I thought this was just okay. Nothing crazy unexpected happened plot wise (yeah even that ending) and I didn't get any chemistry from the "main ship"

It took me almost halfway to get into the book. Not sure why. But once I did I couldn't stop and needed to finish. Oh and then the ending.... Ugh. So I had to get Namesake right away and start it.
The story is a love poem to resilience and life at sea. The book beautifully showcases a world fractured by power, and how that shapes everyone involved. It feels like a whole adventure at the hand of a powerful and wild main character on the path to finding herself.
The story is unique for the genre with many layers and lovable characters. It ultimately provides a real lesson as to the strength and fragility of relationships regardless of the length you've known someone.
The writing, while overly descriptive and repetitive, feels soothing and kind. It lends itself to compelling storytelling that makes you want to sail the sea and never come back.
