This was ok. This was a solid story and it was interesting to follow an MC whose mother has a hoarding problem. The romance in this was cheesy but cute, and I loved the bookish references. However, I was unable to really connect to any of the characters and everything felt wrapped up too neatly and conveniently for me.
Overall, just a fine basic read that I could see appealing to a lot of younger readers

This young adult romance novel explores the challenges faced by a teenager whose mother struggles with hoarding. It being geared at young adults, it did not delve into the specifics of the disorder, but it did shed a light on the impact of this mental disorder on the family members who love them. Three stars. It was ok.
I almost didn’t finish this because of how boring it was

DNF'd. I didn't empathize for the main character or her struggles. That isn't to say that they weren't high stakes for her, but as an adult reading about them, it was one of those things that an adult can see is not the end of the world. I also found it hard when the MC is not sure why she can't stop staring at the love interest. She's 17. I am pretty sure a vast majority of people that age can understand what a "crush" is especially when she wasn't raised in a situation similar to Carrie. That being said, I did like the idea of the MC having a possible idetic memory of words and books and felt it was a missed opportunity to have that be a tension-filled connection to her estranged father. I loved the Spanish/Cuban influences. It felt like a mashup of She's All That (without the makeover) and Gilmore Girls. It wasn't a bad storyline. However, I felt it would be better for the YA audience for which it was intended.

If I thought I'd like this book so much, I would have read it sooner.
Coming from a big fantasy reader, this book was SO refreshing. The prose was tasteful, and the love story so SANE!! God, it felt so good to read something so fresh and innocent. And yet the subjects depicted were serious but dealt with in a way that felt so healthy.
100% recommend this sweet story to anyone who needs a good palate cleanser between two heavy books or who loves a cute love story.

Stopped because it was more middle age than expected and I just didn’t feel it
