This book deals with a lot of coming of age topics like growing into your own person while still dealing with family issues and trying to do what is right for everyone.
Darcy, the main character was not my favorite main character ever, but she also was not the worst. I enjoyed her passion for reading and getting to experience that through her relating to her favorite stories. Other than that, she was a bit flat. Some of the other characters I think could've been really powerful if written differently (like Darcy's mom). Other characters were just fine.
I liked the story line and was engaged enough to finish the book and feel fulfilled upon the last page.

Audio. Throughly enjoyed this YP book. The writing was beautiful...kept wishing I was reading instead of listening because there were so many gems. Lots of mentions of other classic books and quotes. An all round enjoyable read.

I read this book to have something to recommend to my students, but honestly I can’t see myself suggesting it. I never bought into the pity we are supposed to feel for Darcy because she’s a “brainiac,” and the hoarding storyline felt like it was created with the sole purpose of having a more unique vehicle for family trauma.

Ok ok I'm definitely a sucker for books like this one. As a fellow gal stuck with her nose in a book, I knew Darcy would have to wake up and smell the roses at some point, and I was so proud of her for her growth throughout the book. A+ literary references all throughout. 4.5 ⭐
On the outside, Darcy seems like any other American teenager: she has friends, does well in school, and has a part-time job. But inside her home, Darcy's life is dramatically different from those around her. Her mother is a hoarder, a closely guarded secret that only her best friend Marisol knows. As nosy apartment managers, absentee fathers, and a tea-drinking boy come on the scene, Darcy's exterior begins to crack.
I thought that this book was very sweet! Darcy deals with a level of stress that she shouldn't have to but does it with a lot of grace and love for her mother. I think that one thing that made her character development unique was the fact that she was willing to evaluate herself for areas of needed growth. The supporting characters were terrific - her grouchy boss and Tess next door were great. Marisol was a perfect best friend and Asher a super sweet & patient romantic interest. The storyline isn't necessarily dramatic and is a bit of a slow burn which I thought was perfect!

This book sounded interesting when I first saw it and I am glad I picked it up to read. It was an incredibly fast read that I could not put down. Darcy Jane Wells has an unseen attitude for all things literary. Abandoned by her father before birth and a mother pills with life as a Forester, Percy Spencer Tom in the pages of a book instead of being around life. When Asher Fleet, a recent grad Darcy's High School Who is dealing with the effects of a car accident begins spending his break time at the bookstore where she works, Darcy must find the courage to step out from behind a book and begin living her own life.
Filled with a ton of literary references, appropriate quotes, and a mysterious copy of Peter Pan that plays an integral role in the story, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
