I Owe You One

This was a cute book. It wasn't my favorite Sophie Kinsella book but I did enjoy the storyline.

I loved this book. The obscure name drew me to the book - Fixie is a great name even if it is just a nickname.

It’s a relatable romance novel. It pulls at your heartstrings, makes you think about how you speak to others, put yourself before others and gives you time to reflect. It also shows you the value of family and unconditional love.

Like most romance novels it has a happy ending. This shouldn’t bother me but for once can there be something more realistic?

I liked the fact that the author highlighted that people can change if you give them the truth and help. It also gives you a reality that others won’t change and should be let go.

Super cute typical Sophie Kinsella book! Love adding these in for light summer time reads

This was an utter delight. I really think Sophie Kinsella's chick-lit formula is down to a science rather than predictable and overly cheesy like many chick lits can be.

Don't get me wrong, I Owe You One is cheesy, but in a feel-good way, not an eye-rolling way. There was the lovable leading woman (I found Fixie way more likeable than Katie in [b:My Not So Perfect Life|30821598|My Not So Perfect Life|Sophie Kinsella|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1498911971s/30821598.jpg|51414129], the last Kinsella book I read), the dreamy love interest who thankfully isn't dripping in toxic masculinity, and a band of quirky, kooky characters to boot. It felt like a warm, comforting hug.

However, at 435 pages, it was a bit long for a chick-lit. I was ready for it to be over by the time page 350 or so rolled around.

I read the bulk of this in a hospital waiting room and it made the time fly by. I highly recommend this book for anyone in need of a pick-me-up!

I can't deal with a a cast of characters where not even a single of them is redeemable in any way. Also her name is Fixie? That's not a name, that's a nickname. Her character is not fleshed out and all over the place. I can't believe this book has ever gotten a star rating better than 2. She was such a pushover letting these obviously toxic people step all over her and ruin her dreams and aspirations. The whole skating thing with her brother? Like what are you kidding me. I wish I had never picked this up.

Very cute and quick read!

Angry and Annoyed The Whole Way Through

This book was not easy for me to get through. The main character, Fixie, annoyed me so much. She's such a pushover and just doesn't speak her mind. Her crush, Ryan, is an ass and a user. Don't understand how she can't see the obvious. Her brother, Jake, is a fake and her sister, Nicole, is pretending to be an airhead. Then she meets Sebastian and they have this weird IOU thing going on and it's kind of cute, but also just needs to be let go. I didn't like how she didn't seem to be able to handle being without a guy. She's not very strong at all. The ending felt a little forced.

Another Sophie Kinsella book that didn’t disappoint. I really enjoy her signature blend of romance and literary fiction. This one was funny and, in a weird way, a bit motivational—but getting there involves navigating some genuinely aggravating characters and decisions.

The FMC is on a journey of learning to value herself, and it’s not an easy ride. She faces some tough moments and gets a little burned along the way, but it all comes together in the end. There’s also a side plot involving familial loss—not explored in great depth, but still present enough that it’s worth mentioning for anyone sensitive to that theme.

My only real complaint is the ending—it felt abrupt and a little rushed, leaving a few threads unresolved or not fully wrapped up, especially considering how heavily some issues were emphasized throughout. That said, I loved the way the sibling dynamics were resolved, and the end game romance was fun to watch unfold. A pretty solid read if you like this author.
