This is probably the best book I’ve read this year. It is incredibly dark and though I should have expected this from a book set in Nazi Germany, I didn’t. There are horrors mentioned in this book that I don’t want to imagine, but the writing is so good that it is impossible not to. The character of Sarah was interesting and conflicting. I thought her inner turmoil between being what she needed to be vs who she was was very interesting. Action was well written, the characters were interesting and I was wholly invested in Sarah’s story. I look forward to reading the second book.

This was a tense, fast-paced story about a Jewish orphan in 1934 and how she ends up becoming a spy. I enjoyed the snappy dialogue and the danger around every corner feeling it elicited.

(Disclaimer: I received an advanced copy from First to Read.) I read this book within a week which is quick for me. It has a fast-passed beginning and keeps up the momentum throughout. The characters are dynamic and I found myself cheering for 15-year-old Sarah as if she were part of my family or friends. It's a good read for anyone who enjoys YA fiction, especially reading centered on WWII.

I really enjoyed this book. It's out of my comfort zone of fantasy and science fiction being a historical fiction but it's bloody good. Some parts were hard to read (subject matter not anything bad on the writers part) but it was compelling. I loved Sarah so much and am actually really looking forward to her next mission. Highly recommend 4 and a half stars.

I'm not going to give this book a rating since I DNF'd it. It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, but this kind of book revolves around a very heavy topic (WW2), and I has been needing light books lately. But I will definetly pick this up again soon to finish it becuase I am still enjoying it. I would totally reccomend this book to all historical fiction lovers and to anyone interested on learning a little more about WW2. If I had finished the book, the rating I would give it is probably around a 3.5-4 stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed this riveting story of a 15 year old blond haired, blue eyed Jewish girl during Nazi Germany. In this story she sees her mother shot at a nazi checkpoint, meets a mysterious man who helps her turn spy to infiltrate a nazi school for girls and to collect information to thwart the their bombing plans. I couldn’t put it down!

When does the sequel come out?

There were some very surprising and unrealistic elements toward the end, but I still enjoyed the book overall. It was super interesting to read a WWII book from inside the Reich.
