I enjoyed this book which others have compared to a dark twist on The Breakfast Club (I'm of that generation that can relate to and appreciate that reference). When a strict teacher sends 5 students to detention and 1 of them dies shortly after it begins, all are suspects. The characters represent several issues that teens are actually facing, some better than others. The story is somewhat predictable, but still enjoyable.

This was an amazing book, some of the heavier topics in the book were brought in very nicely. I give this a 4.5 only because I kinda guessed who the killer was but I wasn't really serious about it bc the book did a great job of making you unsure!

This book starts off with such a two cliché premises (both of which I tend to like): a murder mystery with multiple unlikely yet all equally likely suspects and Breakfast Club-esque character archetypes. As you read you realize that beyond surface level introductions, these characters are so multidimensional with deeply relatable insecurities, experiences, and fears. Their stories made my heart ache. I absolutely loved every last second of it, down to the end I couldn’t fully predict no matter how much I mulled it over. It’s one of those books you start and finish in under a few days, if not in one sitting.

This was a very good book, and probably the first book where I have actually been interested in every single POV.

In the beginning, I loved how she set it up so that you didn’t know what each of them were trying to hide and no one trusted anyone. This made it interesting when you got to read it from all of the different perspectives.

At the end, Jake make me want to throw the book…but I guess that’s expected.

All of the stories pulled together very nicely, and I like how much the characters developed by the end of the book. Very excited to read the next book!!

I truly wish one of them actually killed Simon rather than this whole thing being orchestrated by Simon as a dramatic school shooting-like suicide. Imagine the police never investigated how the peanut oil ended up in his body and all his planning was for no reason.
