The history of this game is so interesting! Monopoly has always been my favorite board game but I had no idea it has such a complicated past. Towards the end it was difficult to recall who was who because there were so many people involved but I still couldn't put the book down.

This was really good. Clearly exhaustively researched, but read like a novel.

A fascinating history of Monopoly that destroys the long-told story of its invention that is wholly untrue. The book decisively chronicles the history of the game that goes back much farther than Charles Darrow and Parker Brothers in 1935. There’s something here for everyone - fans of Monopoly, business history, legal history, and pop culture history.

For anyone that loves Monopoly or inventing.

Also, spoiler: MONOPOLY WAS INVENTED BY A BOSS ASS BITCH!

Please note, I have never played Monopoly in my entire life. Despite that, it was fascinating to read the history of the game and how the people adapted the board and the rules to the times they lived in. This book is a small slice of American history, not just the game.

The arguments this game has started are infamous. The behind the scenes look at its development and history is no less scandalous or entertaining.
