I love a good historical romance. I also really love NR Walker books as she never disappoints.
Set in 1882, this story follows Albie Bramwell, a nineteen-year-old who suddenly finds himself running his family farm, Echo Creek, after his father’s unexpected passing. With most of the farmhands gone and the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, everyone assumes he’ll fail.
Then along comes Percy Collins; eighteen, hungry, and in need of work. When he helps Albie out in town, Albie offers him a job, and Percy is determined to prove himself. Watching these two navigate life together, build trust, and find their place, both on the farm and with each other was incredibly sweet. Percy’s intelligence and quiet strength made him such a standout, and I loved seeing his confidence grow.
This was a heartwarming, swoon-worthy love story with just the right amount of angst and character growth. Albie and Percy completely won me over. Just watching these two men grow into who they are as individuals and as a couple, had me grinning like a fool half the time.
This is a must-read for historical MM romance fans!

Cute! Loved seeing these young cowboys find each other and fall in love. NR Walker did not disappoint!
I usually avoid historical MM because I don't feel like they can ever have a HEA but this one did! Loved the relationship development. I have such a soft spot for MCs who find each other randomly and fall in love. It feels like divine intervention.
I also generally avoid books with younger MCs (these guys are 19 and 18 for most of the book) but like... I didn't mind it here?
Overall the story is such a good mix of relationship development and slice of life stuff that I ADORE. Because if you're going to give me two cowboys then we better see some actual cowboy shit and this had just enough for me to feel totally satisfied.
Oh and side note, this is the second book I've read that uses BUTTER as lube. BUTTER. Like... That sounds so gross because you'll be scooping butter out of your bum for a while after but I digress.
And yet! I give bonus points to the way they discovering each other's bodies. The absolute poetry they spew at each other. The other queer characters. The gorgeous setting. The found families. The adorable epilogue. YES I'M GUSHING.
I almost rated this 4 stars but I kept thinking about it for days after I read it and may read it again so 5 stars for you!

One of the best epilogues I've read. This was one of those books I was heartbroken when it ended

I always like NR Walker books. This was such a wonderful love letter to The Man from Snowy River. I liked it very much. the characters were great and I'm glad they got their HEA.
Another Great Story from N.R. Walker!
I loved this book so much!!! I immediately fell in love with Percy and Albie. I found myself rooting for them the entire book! I really enjoyed the way their relationship developed and loved all the side characters. Percy and Albie deserved the very best and they got it! Some of the deepest sweetest lines were said in this book and my heart just melted! This story just solidified N.R. Walker as one of my favorite authors. She has an extensive list of books she’s written so I’m so happy that I’ll have plenty more to read from her. I’m absolutely buying a physical copy to add to my personal library.
