This series is, I think, one of Cassandra Clare’s best works. Her modus operandi in writing, per se. And, dare I say it, a perfect sequel.

It expands on the world and the plot in immense detail. All of the character arcs are addressed and expanded upon. And the things that kept happening that move the story forward made sense. If book 1’s enticing incident was a result of history, this book shows us a glimpse of what’s after. That is what I describe as a perfect sequel.

Will, Tessa, and Jen’s relationships with each other (as well as their love for each other) was written so well that you can’t help but feel for them. It’s more than a love triangle, and I really like how she subverted that trope. It’s so clever. I love it. I love both pairings (even tho i have a favourite—i’ll always favour the sarcastic male lead, sorry jem lol).

Also this book was just so poetic. Maybe because it focused more on the love story, and both boys are just able to spout poetry like that. And it’s less reminiscent of the classics, but more fantastical—a gradual ‘shift’ in tone and atmosphere which i love.

I do wish Henry and Charlotte’s relationship was explored more. There were hints of it but i would’ve wanted a bit more focus on it the way Sophie and Gideon’s was. But that’s all i could say was missing though. Everything else was perfect.

De verdad uno de los mejores libros que he leído de verdad con un final que me dejó sin palabras para describir los sentimientos que experimenté al leerlo
