Yaz and Heath have known each other ever since they were kids. Heath was Yaz's brother, Max's best friend. Heath had always been nice to her, even offering to teach her surfing which eventually sparked her love for the sea. But at some point, Heath started acting differently after he and his twin sister, Verity were suffering from their wealthy parents' neglect behind the scenes.

Heath had a literal list of the type of woman he wanted to start a family with. He wanted someone stable--the complete opposite of his drunk of a mother. Because of this, he looked down on Yaz and her career. He thought that Yaz was flighty and couldn't hold a job long enough before she got bored. He later learned that she had her own wellbeing center by the sea and held classes for kids.

Yaz endured Heath and also the rest of her family's patronizing comments about her life. So when Heath changed his outlook on her life, she couldn't believe it. It took her a while to finally accept him. Even at 90% of the book, she was still too defensive about his comments. Heath was a prick and could hardly say the right things in front of her, but it also took a while for his views to change too. He had some unconscious biases under there that took a while to dig up.

Yaz was depicted as this alluring magnet that radiated good vibes. She's the mental health whisperer because she always managed to figure out people and their problems that crossed her path. While Heath was depicted as charming around others yet a stumbling mess around her. It's quite funny and endearing to see how badly Heath stumbled around but Yaz's whole alluring thing and constantly leaving people to gape at her in awe was a bit too much for me

There were elements of this book I liked, but I feel like there wasn't enough grovel to make me believe Yaz would get together with Heath in the end

Liked this wayy more than I expected to! I was reluctant to pick up this book bc I did not like the FMC in the first book where she wasn't the main character. But loved her so much in this book! I think I read it at the perfect time too (thinking about what lifestyle changes I can make to prioritize my health). Loved how determined she was to follow through on what she believed in.

TITLE:  Unworthy
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
AUTHOR: Susie Tate
TROPE: Age Gap, Enemies-To-Lovers
TYPE: Standalone
POV: Dual POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

Unworthy is the second book in this standalone series; Yaz is Max's younger sister and best friend of Mia (Max's wife), whom we met in Unperfect. Heath has been Max's best friend since they were kids and is a successful doctor. Yaz has also idolized him since her childhood. Yaz is a free spirit, unconventional, and the complete opposite of Heath, not to mention the little sister of his best friend.

While not a spicy read with the intimate scenes left behind closed doors and left to our imagination, I found the story endearing while both Yaz and Heath sorted through their feelings from the past. It was a quick, engaging read, and I gave a rating of 4 / 5 stars.

It was enjoyable.

Heath was a complete douche bag to Yaz, he belittled her every chance he got and it’s sad as he’s known her for 20+ years and I’m glad he had to grovel as much as he did!

Yaz, ahh I want her to be my friend, the hippie beach babe who believed in alternative therapy, crystals and rocked the waves wind surfing! She was so cool and I’m pleased she finally stood her ground and stuck up for herself against her family and Heath, she deserved better from them.

I did feel for Heath and his twin sister though when it all came to light what they’d been through as kids.

Another great romance from Susie Tate.
