I loved this book, it was cute and unexpected! I didn't want to figure out where the author was going, because the story was so much fun! Definitely would recommend for a fun read, any time!

This book is uproariously funny just like the first one. The storyline of luck, love and international relation, just makes you giggle.
The storyline as usual is far fetched, however, this is Jonasson style and may the book more comedic altogether. I do like the far fetch-ness which I can see some people not liking. I feel that it make the novel more unique and it is something that grabs you.
I really liked the character of Nombeko who was a rounded and sassy character. She understands her fault and is quick to point out other people's faults as soon as they did this to her. Nombeko is clever and throughout the book, she uses this to her advantage. Her maths ability surprises you because of her upbringing but it helps her most during her time in Pelindaba.
The Chinese Sisters are the most comical character that are featured in this book and I wish we saw more of these characters, as when I read about them I would laugh out loud. Jonasson has written the Chinese sisters well and I definitely feel like they were not a finished character and would love to see them in a future book of his.
This book is considerably longer than 'The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window and Disappeared' and I felt that the middle section was on the long side and not much happened during this time. I do feel that the book could have been shortened.
If you like 'The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of the Window and Disappeared' then I would definitely recommend this book. I know for sure that I will be reading more Jonas Jonasson books in the future and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Lets just hope in the next book Jonasson gets over his obsession with atomic bombs.

This book was a lot of fun! I loved following the detailed threads of each of the characters, and how they wove together to have such a wide impact. Parts of it did tend to drag on a little bit and have a hard time holding my focus, but I suspect this was largely due to the fact that I was listening to the audiobook instead of reading at my own quicker pace.

Almost, but not quite four-star-worthy for me. It was easy to read and consistently amusing, but I constantly felt I was waiting for the bigger dips and peaks from amusing to a moment of pathos, or amusing to laugh out loud. Perhaps the tone and pacing were a little too smooth? We looked briefly in on moments that should have been bitter or heartbreaking, joyous or sidesplitting, but instead they seemed a bit distant and fleeting. Not quite what it could have been, but an amusing read overall.
