Need to find a physical copy rather than an audiobook, for this one.

I really wanted to like this book. The main concept is that ‘failure’ as defined by a heteronormative perspective is often where joy, creativity and liberty lies. Which is a good starting point forthe notion of celebrating queerness and diversity. However, this book seemingly tries to straddle a line between academic/accessible writing (which I accept are not always mutually exclusive) but I feel it maybe didn’t quite hit either. Which is probably my roundabout way of saying I found it pretty hard to follow a lot of the time, although it did have moments of brilliance that were engaging. I’m not sure the audiobook format is good for this one, I found the narrator distracting and I think it would have been more digestible if read.

3.5/4? i like a lot of the ideas, but the way some of them are illustrated isn’t particularly effective for me as someone who hasn’t seen a lot of childrens animation. the little references to zines and BLaB were fun for me
