This story is speculative fiction book with horror, fantasy and history at the core. 

This story takes place in Macon  Georgia in the 1915's. This story re imagines the KKK as actual demons who are summoned and possess the white population of country towns every year during their celebration of the birth of nation (murder of Nat Turner). 

It is during this yearly celebration that the the female lead team is set into action to destroy the Klu Kluxes before these possession continues to spread.

It's fast paced and action packed from the first chapter. The big show down in the end puts everything in to prospective for the reader. Great story.

I wanted to love this book. Especially since it started out with action. However, from that point it dragged out until the end, where the action picked up and the book just ended. It felt too rushed. Although I like the historical elements, theme, and story line, the writing style was a bore.

the tone is this book is so interesting: dark and gritty while also keeping a fast-paced and adventurous style. it really felt anime-esque to me, with the main character being able to conjure a sword that is blessed by her ancestors. 

I really enjoyed the lore building. it was beautifully crafted. I wish this book was longer: a full novel instead of a novella would've given the author more space to play in this world. and more time for me to love it!
