How I Met My Soul Mate is my new favorite romance manga! Yuuki is looking for love, but despairing of ever finding it when she finally meets Iori. While she is initially intimidated by him, Yuuki and Iori manage to connect again after a bad first impression. Are they destined for friendship or something more?

I loved Iori!! After a negative first impression, he goes out of his way to make things right and get to know Yuuki. Yuuki has a lot of relatable feelings about being in your twenties and feeling like an adult in some ways and not others. Yuuki and Iori have excellent chemistry and they’re definitely the couple that I ship. I was internally shrieking about the potential love triangle and can’t wait to see how it plays out in volume two. Readers who are looking for a sweet and contemporary romance manga should check this out.

4.5/5!!!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review!

I actually LOVED Waiting for Spring and the art style of this author and it’s been a minute since I’ve read some manga so I hopped on getting this ARC and I’m so glad I did!! It gave me exactly what I was looking for. No exaggeration, I was indeed screaming, crying, and throwing up, kicking my feet in the ear and rolling around in my bed from all the cuteness lol.

The plot isn’t anything new but I kind of like that. It’s comforting haha. I love mangas that are set in college as I feel the characters are a little more mature. The MC is so endearing and the male leads are SO SWEET AND CUTE AHHHHHHHHHH. There are tons of cute moments that had my stomach literally filled with butterflies. I literally yelled at my ipad and threw it on my bed because it was so cute. I am already sick to my stomach at the love triangle and am in desperate need of volume 2-100000 immediately. Lastly, the art is spectacular. So well drawn and love the way the scenes are framed so much!!

“How I Met My Soulmate 1” by Anashin is about Yuuki and her desire to find her soulmate. At twenty years old, Yuuki has grown desperate to find her soulmate and leads her to go to a night club one night. The night club is where she meets a blond guy who treats her poorly. To make it up to her he hooks her up with someone she would be perfect for.

I really liked this Manga book. It is cute and adorable. The story is interesting, and I need to know what happens in the rest of the books. I loved the art, and it was nice and clean. The characters are drawn really well. Through and through, it is a good Manga read. 5 out of 5 stars.

could be promising but just good

Oh my GOD! This was sooooo cuteeee!!!!!!!!

I am obsessed with this story and the artwork. I can't wait to read more from this series!

This was a great start to the manga series!

College aged shojo with no weird age gaps between any of the potential love interest characters! Our main character Yuuki wants to be in love and find her soulmate and so does her friend so they hit the town one night and our story unfolds from there.

There is a potential love triangle at play but it does work with the plot really well and doesn't seem to be one of the love triangles just thrown onto the paper for no reason. I can't decide which love interest I like more at this point!

Good character development, cute plot, and beautiful art!

I got a copy of this volume provided via Netgalley and Kodansha Comics in exchange for a honest review.

tl;dr
All the tasty drama of a high school shoujo manga, but with college-aged protagonists instead.

Thoughts
Cotton candy-style shoujo manga is my guilty pleasure. It's sweet, it's pretty, and it's not too heavy. It is also almost always about high schoolers. And while I do enjoy a good high school drama, I wouldn't mind this kind of sugary romance for an older audience either. "How I Met My Soulmate" hits that spot extremely well, with our MC Yuuki already in her second year in college. It's really fun to see all the familiar old tropes among characters juggling part-time jobs and hangovers. And the mixer even felt like a fun college get together, instead of an extremely sketchy bad idea! Iori is (by design, I think) my preferred guy, but Seno's storyline is fascinating, and I genuinely don't know which way the story's going to go with him. What I do know is that I will definitely be reading it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha comics for an advance copy. All thoughts in this review are my own!
