Pivot Point is a perfect example of the kind of book that can get me out of any reading slump I might having. While we live in a world filled with ‘what-if’s’, Addie has the ability to Search a decision and choose the best one and actually see the what if of her decision. When her parents announce their divorce, Addie is forced to choose: live with her mum, who she doesn’t feel a particular bond with, in their home in The Compound, or move off The Compound with her dad, whom she loves dearly. So she does what everybody would do in her place. She does a Search.

Told in alternating point of views, Pivot Point shows what Addie’s life would be like when she makes either decision. I loved this Sliding Doors kind of concept, even though it’s based on making only one big decision instead of several smaller ones. It reminded me a bit of Before I Fall, another one of those books with a strong contemporary feel but with some paranormal/sci-fi elements to it. I absolutely adored Pivot Point in all its glory. West has cleverly woven the storylines together and it was interesting to see what would happen to the other characters when Addie would leave them for her decision.

If I wouldn’t have known this was a debut, I would never have guessed. The writing was fluent and addictive, keeping me captivated while I flipped the pages. The characters were well-developed, their little quirks taking them off the pages for me. This is one of those books where you just really see a film playing in your head while you read and I loved that.

And the best news: there will be a sequel! Yay! Pivot Point ends on somewhat of a cliff-hanger and I really really really need to know what happens next. I felt so sad when she made her decision in the end, even though there wasn’t really a question about it. It was heart-breaking and I really, really have high hopes that everything will work out in Split Second.

Massive thanks to Debby, without whom I probably wouldn’t even have picked up this book. I adored the cover, which is incredibly pretty, but I never would have guessed the magic between the pages. I will be eagerly awaiting West’s future books – with Split Second high on my most anticipated list for 2014.

At first I thought the premise was too contrived, but it didn't take long for me to change my mind. I got hooked around page fifty and could not put it down. The back-and-forth of each chapter could be confusing, but somehow it wasn't for me. I loved the suspense that was created as Addie learned different things in her two different possible futures. Also, I like that friendship is ultimately most important to her. Love it all!

I will be short, it was an interesting book. I really liked that you start out with one story, and then it branches out to 2 stories.

However, while there were enough changes, it felt (around the middle) like I was just reading 2 sides of the same story. A lot of things that happened in branch one, also happened in branch 2. The only things different were a few actions, the guys and some events. But a lot was the same, and that was a shame.

I loved the romance. Trevor was a really cute and swoonworthy guy, while Duke... well I always had the feeling he was just a slimy player who used his powers for bad stuff. :\

Our main character was really good, I really liked her, and how she acted in the 2 branches and also in the normal story line. She was really nice, but also wasn't easily taken over by things.

I also liked the whole compound/normal world thing. Really creative.

This book was AWESOME! Thank you Kasie West for giving us such an original story. I loved it.

I loved the plot so much that I couldn't put this book down. I did want more character development with the secondary characters though.
This book was such a fun read, but I wanted just one more chapter. Just one more. But the fact that I wanted more, just shows how good this book is.

Well, this was a really good book! Pivot Point is one unique story. Basically, half of this book never happens. Or never happened. It's confusing, but it all makes sense. I wondered how the author would pull off something like this, but she did. And she delivered so well.

To be honest, I had no idea what this book was about when I bought it. I just saw it on the shelves and remembered it having at least a 4 star rating on Goodreads, so I bought it. I didn't even bother reading what it was about. And I don't regret it a single bit!

The premise for this book was very interesting. The plot was very well thought out and the author did a great job in executing it. I was hooked from the moment I started reading it. The whole thing was exciting and unpredictable, even with the author dropping subtle hints here and there.

I have so many things I want to say about this book - good things, mind - but I can't write them all out coherently. But there are only 2 things I can complain about. One, the alternating narration between Addie's futures work well for the most part, but when worlds collide it does get confusing. I have to think back and figure out which Search I'm reading about. Two, and this may be a spoiler here -
SpoilerI don't quite like how easily Trevor accepted Addie's "world".
There wasn't much doubting going on there, which is a little unbelievable. What is this, the world of X-men?

But overall, this book is absolutely great. I cannot wait to get a copy of the second book. I'm hoping it's just as good as this one!

The Reading Rush 2019

“I don't care when people think I'm an antisocial, controlling bookworm because that's what I am. It's when they interpret me wrong that I have a problem.”

I honestly didn't know what to expect from this. I love Kasie West's newer works, so I wasn't sure what to make of her dabbling in a different genre, but this was great. I'm so glad that this readathon finally forced me to pick it up. Trevor is great, he's so loving and understand! I hope that she gets to be with him in the sequel!!!
