I think I love everything Lisa See writes. It's not that I didn't know I would be getting a moving story about the deep friendships that women forge through hardships, but somehow it still made me cry. While some of it is a bit dryer - because there is so much history to get through and cultural knowledge that the reader will need - it is still a beautiful story. There are many tragic moments, but also many moving ones.

Sóc conscient que el problema no és d'aquest lliibre, sinó que és exactament la mateixa història que Amy Tan em va explicar a El cercle de dones de la senyora Tan (no entraré en detalls per evitar espòilers), i aquell llibre el vaig llegir primer.
Sí, el context històric és molt interessant, però ni això és una novel·la històrica ni aquest és l'única font on puc llegir sobre les hanyeo.
El que no suporto és quan un autor sembla trobar la fórmula de l'èxit i la repeteix fins a esgotar-la. Sento que em pren el pèl.
