I loved this book so much! Geena Davis is a gem and a great storyteller - she’s thoughtful, kind, and has found a way to be authentically herself in this world. I recommend the audio book because her voice and cadence make the story come alive.

“Actually, please just tell me I can’t do something…I’ll handle the rest.”

I’ve been a fan of her since I saw her in movies like Beetlejuice and Thelma and Louise, and then she was in A League of their Own which is one of my all time favorite movies. I think she is an amazing actress, but to hear more about her life and other things she was involved in has made me love and respect her so much more. The world is lucky to have her in it.

4.75 I like this very much!

It's more of a vibe than a memoir. She seems nice. That's about it. Not many details about her life. No grand advice about your own life. Just a pleasant conversation that you won't really remember tomorrow.

Honest short chapters tell stories from Davis' life - growing self-awareness, agency, and feminism. If you're a fan, this is a good read. Davis is highly likable and very interesting. Did you know she was a competitive archer?

My second very tall and wonderful actress memoir of 2023.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I’ve long admired Geena Davis - actor, feminist, archer… I think she’s incredibly intelligent and witty and it comes through in her writing. I knew about her institute but it was nice hearing more the work they do and how it came about. I vaguely remember hearing about her film festival. It’s been many years since I have visited the lovely little city of Bentonville. Maybe it’s time to plan a visit and see a movie.

I really enjoyed this memoir and found myself laughing out loud often. Geena Davis is a wonderful storyteller and I loved hearing about her family and her storied career (the Thelma and Louise part was a particular favorite). She also dishes on her famous marriages (the Jeff Goldblum ending is particularly bittersweet). But mostly, it is about a woman finding her voice, her power and working to change the world. She is the most badass of badasses for sure.

Interesting memoir from Geena Davis. I felt like it was written at too far an arm's length with a constant attempt at humor. It felt like a lot of the depth typically afforded in a book of this type was missing, leaving me to wonder still who Davis really is.
