This just wasn't as gripping as the other Baldaccis I've read.

While I do enjoy Baldacci's storytelling, he was a bit all over the place with this book. There were actually 3 separate stories within the 1 book. Perhaps he was trying to use these stories as an aid in character development, but it felt rather scattered. Each storyline had an interesting direction, but seemed as though they could have been stand alone stories.

I almost likes this one better than the other two.
Although the story felt a bit disconnected around the second third of the book. It was quick to draw me in again.

I want to like the Will Robie series but all the wooden dialogue reeeally got to me. Like, there is a weird lack of emotion in how Will and Jessica speak. Lots of telling, not showing. Decided this was going to my DNF shelf when I got to the part when they were being retested (for their loyalty or something... idk the rationale was kinda iffy). It felt terribly over the top, when Baldacci was describing physical trials they were subject to. I get they are top of their fitness game but it was lowkey hilarious like am I supposed to believe they ran hills, climbed heights, did calisthenics, fought close combat blah blah blah and came out of it intact??? It might not be impossible but the way of writing was quite exaggerated. I guess I’ll be moving on to other crime thriller authors…

Third installment of the Will Robbe series. I think this is one of the best; there was a lot of character development, a lot of action and a lot of growth on everyone's part. Can't wait to start the next one! I won't go into much detail as it is the middle of a series. If you're reading the series then you know how they go and who the people are. If you've not yet started the series, then this should not be your first! Start at the beginning and you won't be disappointed.
