This third instalment in the Wayfarers series was eagerly awaited but once I started it I couldn't get into it. I gave it a rest before returning to it and I am glad I did because I ended up enjoying it a great deal. I was really rooting for Kip to see what was obvious to us all! He was a good kid.

In the beginning, I had a tougher time connecting with the characters in this book than previous installments of the Wayfarer’s series. This book contains more slice of life glimpses into Exodan life, not all necessarily connected. Because there are so many different stories happening, I feel like you don’t get as much in-depth connection with the characters. However, the overall picture painted is a poignant, human one and the laying in ceremony actually did make me tear up. I can’t believe I only have one more book left in the series! 😩

Good, but I enjoyed the first best. Focuses on life in the Exodan fleet, so there's less of the alien culture in the background world. Still nice and whimsical (no real overarching plot, by design, but enough world-building/interesting characters/situations happening within that world to keep it going).

Really interesting book. I liked the structure, the way that it seemed to develop from a bunch of loose threads into an interconnected web. This was my first book in this universe and I enjoyed the worldbuilding, although as an archivist it was sometimes confusing and a bit maddening how that profession had been interpreted into the future.

Wow wow wow!! Becky Chambers, once again, goes out of her way to create a book that is purposefully inclusive, hilarious and scintillating. Ever since I first read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, I knew I had found my new favourite series. Mad props to Becky, I loved every second of this!
