It’s the Halloween special!!!! Again, it's just so much fun man. I'd say there are some more comedic moments than in the last book in this series, but it still has those great bits of dramatic Greek lore and overwhelmingly sweet interactions between our favorite characters. These books make me so happy!!

Ok so, this book did get slightly better after reading Chalice of the Gods, but only slightly. I gave Chalice of the Gods a 3.5 rating and this I would only really give a 3.6 at most, but seeing as I can’t do anything other than .5 or .75 the official rating for this is a 3.5 as it’s definitely not worthy of a 3.75
I mentioned in my review of CotG’s that the book felt like it was either a money grab or Disney put a gun to Rick’s head and said if we’re turning your stories into a series then you have to write more books - I still stand by those statements in this book too. The writing did improve a lot which made the story more digestible but it still feels way off and out of character for Percy, Annabeth and Grover.
For starters, the Annabeth of the first 10 books would NEVER think it a good idea to host a party at a God’s home WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A QUEST. Like I think we can all agree on this fact - she would f*cking never do that. That’s so out of character for her so why in the Gods names would Rick even write that??
Secondly “Leo + Percy 4ever 🖤” .. what in the actual f*ck? Nowhere in the Heroes of Olympus series do Leo and Percy ever have that sort of relationship like what? I’m sorry does Rick remember his own books??
I’m just beyond baffled at this point. I’m contemplating whether to actually get the third book or not when it’s released because imo Rick is single-handedly destroying all his amazing work in the Percy Jackson world with just these 2 new books.
