This book was pretty good as expected.
I think the whole 'whodunnit' wasn't as exciting as it was meant to be. I must admit I was debating between two possibilities until I reached the part leading up to the main showdown.
I take back what I previously said about DeMalo in the update. It has been a while since I read the rest of the series, so I was going easy on him at the beginning. It was towards the end where I was reminded that he was a bit more of a psychopath than your generic arsehole. Now I remember why we're all meant to hate him.
The deaths were a bit predictable (the second one was a blessing upon this earth. It would be an outright lie to say I wasn't literally kissing the pages of the book as it happened).
I've gone off Jack (which is sad, but he pissed me off). Something that surprised me was how much I grew to like Tommo. He really stepped up in this book.
The ending was satisfying but it could have been better. How? I'm not sure - all I know is as I was reading it I thought "meh".
All in all it was good. Predictable - but good.

⇝My Thoughts⇜
This series has ultimately disappointed me…I've tried to figure out if I regret reading it at all, and to tell the truth…I'm just not sure…a part of me is, though. I have loved the narration on this series by Heather Lind, but even that got on my nerves towards the end of this book. Maybe, that's Saba's fault too.
I'm just not happy with the decisions that Saba, Jack and Tommo have been making. I was also seriously disappointed in the heart stone, (really, it is sort of a character) how could it light up for both of them? I didn't like that at all. After the debacle that was Rebel Heart, where everyone made some rash decisions, it was clear that Raging Heart had to have something epic happen to put it back on the 'loving this' train. Clearly, that didn't happen for me.
⇝Sex Factor⇜ Yes, there is sex but not explicit. It's not a clean read, for sure.

Flares by The Script --The words are for Saba…Did you regret nothing???
♫Did you lose what won't return?
Did you love but never learn?
The fire's out but still it burns
And no one cares, there's no one there
Did you find it hard to breathe?
Did you cry so much that you could barely see?
You're in the darkness all alone
And no one cares, there's no one there♫

I can't make myself read anymore. The lack of quotations drive me crazy. You never realize how much they affect your reading until suddenly you can't tell when someone's thinking something or saying it!
Cover

It saddens me when I like the beginning of a series, but when it comes down to the last book, it didn't quite work out for me, so it ruins the whole series, and to think that I have waited for this third book for a long time.
I missed the thrill of adventure that I had when I read the first two books of this series. I just felt bored when I was reading this, even though they were plotting a war, a weaponless war, against DeMalo.
But what I did like about this was that Saba was an imperfect heroine. She didn't always did the right things, she made mistakes. She's human. Which makes her a relatable character for me.

I figured the concluding book would be able to wrap things up and give a satisfying ending to this tough series. I had high expectations for this book especially after the nasty deed that Saba did at the end of Rebel Heart when she slept with DeMalo. *shudders* Then of course she had her hands all over Jack and got upset that he didn't return his affections even though she freakin' did it with DeMalo.
Well I was in for a huge disappointment. It was really difficult to get into the book and I didn't remember the misspelled words on purpose and lack of quotation marks being so hard on my eyes since I read the first two books fine. It took me at least a quarter of the book to finally adjust and get used to it. So that was a setback in this unfortunately.
Then the characters. Sweet Emmi, loved her and how much she developed from the first book to a liability (to Saba) to somewhat gaining some respect from Saba. I still never understood how you could hate your younger sister so much even if your mom died during childbirth. I mean seriously Saba, you're eighteen. Grow up.EMMI SERIOUSLY DID NOT HAVE TO DIE. Lugh though, I didn't care. He was always a butt. I guess Moira was trying to throw us off or make it a huge shocker at the end of the book but I swore the change in POV was Tommo for most of the time, which was frankly quite disgusting to think about. Then again, it's disgusting to think that Lugh and Molly had a thing too. She's like how old? . The secondary characters were just there...I actually had no recollection of who Creed, Ash, Slim and Peg were. Boring. Only characters I wanted were Jack and Emmi.
The plot was so long and dull. It was kind of boring the whole time until near the end. Other than Saba's secret visits to Jack to discuss their plans to overthrow DeMalo and when they discovered he was a fraud with his visionsLol was it like a projector? Honestly, I think you could do without the big lump of crystal rock DeMalo, that just looks stupid, . It really annoyed me how Saba hesitated in wanting to kill DeMalo at that time. HE WANTS TO KILL EVERYONE BUT THE STRONG AND HEALTHY. Like how do you not want him dead? And that brief attempt at smuggling babies out of the baby house or whatever.
DeMalo was a creepy bastard. Forcing Saba into marriage but Saba is right up there with him on being really gross and ugh. I still can't believe that three guys like her all at the same time. Like Tommo, you poor kid, what the heck do you even see in Saba? AND HOW CAN YOU BE OKAY WITH HER AFTER YOU DISCOVER THAT DEMALO IS YOUR DAD AND THAT YOU SUSPECT SOMETHING HAPPENED IN BETWEEN THEM WHEN SHE CALLED HIM SETH? That was the ultimate gross factor. That Saba was pregnant with DeMalo's child which could have been Tommo's sibling. Ewwwww. .
The ending was just plain awful.NO idea still who Peg was but then all of a sudden she successfully created some flying machine and Saba jumped for a rope and then dropped onto Jack's boat so that they can ride off into the sunset? Hah the only boat scene where the couple rides off into nowhere was the ending of Some Like it Hot.

OMG PLOT TWIST PLOT TWIST NONONONO. IM SO FREAKING MAD AT LUGH. ALSO REALLY REALLY SAD ABOUT EMMI. SO BRAVE AND SHE WAS A SHAMAN. SHE HAD SUCH A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD OF HER. KINDA SAD ABOUT LUGH. NOT REALLY. HE'S DUMB AND I HATE HIM. AND OMG. THE WHOLE TIME I THOUGH IT WAS TOMMO'S PERSPECTIVE IN THE ITALICS PARAGRAPHS. OMG IT WAS LUGH. AND ALSO TOMMO IS THE FREAKIN SON OF DEMALO. ALSO SABA I THINK HAD A MISCARRIAGE. ALSO MOLLY IS PREGNANT WITH LUGH'S BABY. ALSO SHE AND CREED ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER. ALSO I DON'T LIKE HOW IT ENDED. SO OPEN ENDED. GODDANGIT JACK. YOU MADE ME SO MAD THIS WHOLE BOOK. AND DEMALO YOU'RE FREAKIN CRAZY.
The author pulls no punches in the ending of the trilogy. Saba and her small gang of rebels are trying to defeat DeMalo and win the land back. She has until the blood moon to do so. This series held my attention the entire time and made me feel all the feels. I was even blindsided a few times by characters and their trickery. Great writing, great series.
