Picked it up out of a book nook, free book exchange. A bit grueling to get through a few of the character development chapters but worth it. Enjoyed the story and lessons learned. Ended up referring to some study guides online to confirm all the symbolism. I see why it's a classic, bit it is a bit dated and some values may not hold true to many these days

some bits are beautifully written but it takes far too long to get to the point
some of the characters are interesting and I would have liked to know more about Maria's story.

in 2014, a teenage me picked up this book, and then… never finished reading it. there’s no reason for not finishing it, it just never happened. this year was the year to finish it, and in glad i finally did it.
this is my third hemingway book, and it’s the one i liked reading the most. his writing style is not for me, and i have to say that the last 200 pages or so made me like it more than i was expecting. it was cool to visualize the final chapters as if watching a movie.
