Another tasty slice of life fantasy from CasualFarmer! While this installment wasn't as plot-driven as the first, it was really nice to get all the different points of view from the characters, which led to even more in-depth character development. This is cozy fantasy right up there with the likes of Legends & Lattes! Speaking of which, if you listen to the audio, Travis Baldree does an absolutely fantastic job bringing all these characters to life! Can't recommend it highly enough!

Some of the arcs felt a bit too silly to me in this one... then I remembered that it is just a fun little cozy family farm life xianxia and that I should pull my head out of my ass and just enjoy it. I'm not reading it because I want to be reading amazing literature, I'm just reading it for fun, and that's all that it's trying to be.

The first book was phenomenal and nothing like the rest of the cultivation/progression genre. It was just lighthearted enough to have a fun relaxed time reading it but with enough progress/plot that you couldn't get enough. The slice of life elements seemed to be missing in this book, or at least not the same vibe for some reason. I was looking forward to book 2 being similar to book 1 but unfortunately this one seemed harder to follow and less satisfaction from the interactions. Lots of side plots and favorite characters being off by themselves for a majority of the big parts. Overall it was difficult to finish this by the end, a statement I wouldn't have believed myself saying about this series last year. I have seen lots of good feedback about volume 3 which I'll still preorder! I don't enjoy giving authors less than 5 star reviews as their livelihood is based on their hard work that other people enjoy so my personal rating is a 3/5 for this book.
