I checked this out from the library randomly and saw Wattpad books and got so scared LOL.

but this book ended up being a lot of fun. It definitely isn't too unique story-wise compare to other YA vampire books but the writing is great!

Belle Morte ⭐⭐⭐
This is a short ya book that puts us in dual PoV.
Irene aka renie is a teenage girl who arbors vampires. Shes living in a world in which vampires are out in the open. Humans have of course become vampire fanatics aka Vladdicts and try desperately to become "donors". The lady in charge of House Belle Morte helped create this system of vampires and donors living under one roof. Vampires need human blood and donors get to live a lavish lifestyle they normally would not attain in life. This lifestyle comes with many strict rules the main being no access to electronics and the outside world other than letters that are reviewed before being sent out.  Renie's sister was a vladdict turned donor, but hasn't been responding to correspondence lately. With no other choices Renie decided to apply to become a donor and go talk to her sister in person. The things at Belle Morte are not as they appear. ...

This was a fun, short read. No this isn't a mystery with many plot turns and twists. There's love and cheesey things in between, but zero spice level. And that felt appropriate for this book. Nothing forced. The cast of characters are fun and easy to read. LGBT pro book. I'm ready for book 2 to come out.

Too slow paced to finish. Kinda boring. Had to force myself to pick up the book to finish. Get to the point.

Cliffhanger ending.  Alternating POV.  Great for fan of Twilight or Crave.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I love love love this book!!  I don't typically like modern vampire stories, but this immediately pulled me in!  I found the premise to have a blend of the familiar we seek out with these books, and some fresh content and it was perfect!  I found Renie to be a little more realistic than perhaps the average vampire book protagonist with her feisty spirit, her stubbornness, her growth in attitudes and I adore her heart so much!  The care for her family is strong and I love reading about her growing attachment to the people around her.

Which brings me to another point I loved about this book - how real the relationships between everyone!  The romantic, the friendships!  Of course, I wanted to read this book for the romance, but I am also a sucker for deep friendships and this book doesn't fail with that!  I grew to care for and love all the people in this book and my heart was thrown around every which way by the end.

The imagery is beautiful and sensuous and I seriously want to live in this house.

And of course the tension and chemistry between our main leads constantly gave me goosebumps, I loved the build up from Renie's percieved rivalry to friendship to romantic.  It moved at a natural pace and I ate every part of it up.

I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit: I requested this as soon as I saw the name of the publisher because I've read enough Wattpad stories to be curious about what, exactly, a Wattpad book would be.

The answer: this is a pretty standard vampire novel with a bit of romance. And it's completely fine! If you like vampire stories, this will certainly satisfy your need for something of a higher caliber than Twilight. The shift from first-person to third-person POV is disarming enough that it annoyed me as I was reading, but it's a pet peeve of mine (just pick one!), so it may not bother you as much. I enjoyed reading it and was pleasantly surprised by how endearing the side characters are, but I don't feel the immediate need to devour a sequel.
