I read this with my 5 year old daughter. She loved Tola and all her adventures! This book was a cool way to learn about Nigerian culture which I, and my 5 year old, were not familiar with. I will definitely be sharing the sequels with her as well!

This is a great new series from Atinuke. I love that she has placed the country to more than just Africa and I love Lolas family. I liked the story about her taking measurements and the responsibility the kids were given to get things done. I am excited to read the rest.

Darling early chapter book that shows diversity. I chose to read this out loud to my 3rd graders. Tola is a cute girl dealing with some of the same stuff all kids deal with: bullies, getting along with siblings, choosing to be kind, etc, all while the reader is learning more about what it's like to live in Lagos, Nigeria.

This was a cute series of stories about a Nigerian girl named Tola. I loved her and her grandmother!

I loved this! Three short stories following the same character as she navigates challenges and mockery for her size! She proves people wrong and does great things to help her family and neighbors. Tola's community is tight-knit and I really enjoyed the slice of life aspect. The illustrations added to the story with atmosphere and setting. I can't explain why, but reading this made me feel like when i'd read Amelia Bedelia books as a kid.

Thanks to the publisher for a finished copy for review.
