I think this book would best be read by someone who has already read the rest of the novels in the series! I think this is generally true about romance series novellas. I was a bit lost without the context of the setting and existing characters but I enjoyed the read nonetheless.
yah pretty ok but i think i just don’t love second chance love. i kinda wish it was a mysterious stranger lol

Cute and short
This was a high 3,5 Stars. I really enjoyed it. It was The first ever Tessa Dare book that I have read, but it is definitly not the last. It was cute, sweet and short.

Overall a great Saturday night read!
While I'm surprised by the number of low ratings/DNFs, I'm SO glad I read it immediately after finishing [b:the first book|10429836|A Night to Surrender (Spindle Cove, #1)|Tessa Dare|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1470017606l/10429836._SY75_.jpg|15334257] in the series. If I hadn't, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it quite as much.
Violet and Christian's story is steamy and sweet, with two of my favorite tropes—childhood-friends-to-lovers and second-chance-at-love—plus a healthy dose of polyglotism and espionage. I definitely enjoyed it and can't wait to continue with the series!

I really enjoyed certain elements of this story as part of the Spindle Cove series. The evolution of the FMC from a wallflower into a confident, capable woman was really satisfying. The mix of a second-chance romance with espionage seemed quite unique. One of my favourite touches was the multilingual banter between the main characters since it added personality and warmth to their dynamic.
However, the emotional intensity of the MMC felt a bit over the top, and their reunion moved too fast for me to fully believe in it. The short format didn’t leave much room for deeper development, and some plot points felt rushed. I think this would’ve been stronger as a full-length novel where the relationship could develop more naturally.
Overall, it was a fun novella with a compelling FMC and interesting premise, but the pacing and character depth didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
