This is probably the most interesting boxset I've read in a LONG time.
Kat Shehata has an incredible way of story-telling, keeping you engaged in her stories as she brings you through thrill after thrill, twist after twist, and has you on the edge of your seat every single time. I love that she tells her novels through different perspectives, allowing great character development and showing growth as the stories continue. I wasn't a huge fan of paranormal romance, but Kat has made me a fan! I can't wait to read more of her work soon.
Now onto the boxset:
We follow a girl named Evelyn who has psychic abilities and has a way of ghosts channeling her to tell her about their murders (to solve them). Leo is a homicide detective and thinks she's absolutely insane (because talking to ghosts is normal right?) but over time believes her. They work together through different cases and eventually, the sexual tension is so HIGH, that they develop a relationship. Evelyn has her gift become her sole purpose in life and has put herself in the line of danger multiple times, but she keeps pushing through to not only solve these murders but help the ghosts get closure. Through each story, you can really see how Evelyn evolves as her own person, and how Leo is still trying to come to terms with her gift, but has the constant need to want to protect her. They only continue to show that they make an incredible team together when it comes to solving crime. So many twists, GREAT plots, and just beautiful story-telling.
If you love a good paranormal romantic mystery that's twisty, and has great plots and storylines with substance, this is the series for you! I devoured it in 3 days! Well worth the read! Kat is a writing GENIUS.

A fantastic romantic suspense boxset with undertones of the paranormal where, after a near death experience, the heroine, artist Evelyn Sinclair’s work is inspired by her new disturbing talent of seeing spirits. This ability suddenly escalates and becomes more intense when she begins to not only see but communicate with the ghosts of the recently murdered starting with her friend, which doesn’t do much for Evelyn’s love life as her prospective interest is none other than Leo Ricci, the homicide detective in charge of the investigation, a man who doesn’t believe in any kind of psychic abilities and thinks Evelyn knows more about the murder than she’s letting on
Drawn to Death
Drawn to Death was a gripping story as Evelyn is visited by the spirit of her friend Sydney who wants her to solve her murder. Did I guess who the murderer was? Yes, but not too early in the book and the build up of overall story telling kept me gripped throughout. I loved the Evelyn and Leo together. Their chemistry was palpable and steamy from the start despite their differing attitudes. Leo’s scepticism when it comes to anything he can’t see or explain while Evelyn is unapologetically open about her abilities and her desire to help no matter what the cost to her own safety bringing them into conflict with each other on several occasions. Once they got past their differences, they made quite the team. This is supposed to be the first book in a new series featuring Leo and Evelyn and I can’t see how that’ll work out, but I can’t wait to find out.
Drawn to the Mafia
If you thought Drawn to Death, the first book in this series was good then sit back and prepare to be amazed with Drawn to the Mafia, the latest paranormal romantic suspense from Kat Shehata where the dead demand justice using artist Evelyn Sinclair and her disturbing ability to communicate with spirits as a conduit with the assistance of her lover, Detective Leo Ricci. When a seemingly chance encounter in a cemetery triggers a ghostly visitation for Evelyn this soon leads to a new case for this her and Leo but not everything should be taken at face value. In a gripping story full of danger and suspense and laden with twists and turns and mafia involvement, this book kept me on edge throughout set against an atmospheric setting of a remote haunted lake house complete with a lady in the lake mystery before reaching a dramatic conclusion.
Drawn to the Past
Evelyn’s world is about to be rocked when Leo is hurt while checking out a lead and his injury results in him losing all memory of Evelyn and their life together and bringing the sceptical Leo from the first book back. With a fantastic plot involving a missing/presumed dead college student, disappearing suspects and a ‘did not see that coming’ twist balanced against the emotional aspects of Evelyn and Leo’s disintegrating relationship as he struggles to come to terms with Evelyn’s psychic abilities – trust me, you’re going to want to smack Leo at least a couple of times for his behaviour towards Evelyn which is downright cruel at times – Drawn to the Past gripped me from the start. Throw in a haunted house filled with eerie Victorian dolls to hype up the spooky factor and this just might be my favourite book in the series to date
I was a bit worried about how series would pan out once Leo had got over his initial scepticism about Evelyn’s psychic talents. I felt it might’ve got a bit gimmicky and samey but I shouldn’t have worried. Leo’s acceptance just makes their partnership stronger. Their chemistry has always been steamy from the first time they met but now there is a new dimension to their relationship, and after the ending of the last book, I’m intrigued about what the future holds for Evelyn and Leo and can’t wait to find out.
