Loved it until the camping scene then just secondhand embarrassment.
As cheesy as it sounds, this book made me really think about what I want in life! I'll be 40 in a few years (woof), a full decade older than Hannah, but a milestone birthday nonetheless, and I found myself seriously thinking about what my equivalent big swings would be. Big dreams don't have to be "win the lottery" or "meet Ruby Tandoh," although I wouldn't mind either!!!! Sometimes it's as simple as wear the sparkly dress and don't feel self-conscious.
The make-yourself-proud theme didn't feel trite or over the top to me and the tension between Hannah and Wyatt was so good! Even the very predictable third act break-up actually MADE SENSE and wasn't just thrown in for drama. The original premise made me roll my eyes - Hannah is shy and wants to become a "hot girl" so she asks Wyatt for help because... he's hot? Still not totally clear on it lol but honestly whom care.
My only other complaint is that HEA doesn't have to mean getting married and having babies!!! I actually prefer when the ending is just like, they stayed together and had adventures and loved each other.
A note to TJR: if you want to see how to write a book about surfing (or tennis! or whatever!) without overexplaining and pulling the reader out of your writing, read this one.

THIS WAS A CUTE , spicy book. it was also a book that taught me surfing in vancover is a thing. i love how sweet he is to her and how he helps her be a “hot “ girl while literally helping her discover new parts of her personality and herself . instead of telling her she needs a makeover he just helps her be herself !!! and love herself .
this man istg i love how he is with her
i loved when he made her ask out other guys as an an exercise

Even so. I find that the writing in these books (the the spice) isn’t my thing. The dirty talk that would normally have me very into it was jarring and felt like it didn’t fit with his character.
It just seems like the author is slotting things in but not matching it with the character (although I appreciated that he took it slow with her. That part was sweet!). And when she was hurt. But again, some inconsistencies.
I relate to Hannah so much! Loved this one, definitely one of my favorite books
I inhaled this book in less than 48 hours. I loved it! It felt giddy and felt easy and made me want to live in a beach side town, own a book store (a dream before I read this book so maybe I’m biased) and surf everyday! I loved Hannah as a character and I loved Wyatt as a character and it’s often rare to not want to throttle at-least one main character in love stories for me! There was subtle love which they didn’t realise for so long but they didn’t do silly things which made me want to bang my head against the wall. I just LOVED it!
